I finished the Bal Molagmer quests with the gloves and he told me that I know more about them now yadayada...and I also have killed the Fighters guild head guy and the last thing Jim said to me was dont talk to me until you are a MasterMind. I leveled some skills and went back to him to advance....but he is gone. I went to Big Helende and leveled to MasterMind, did some more things, went back to Jim and he is not there. Crazy-legs says "Look over there, fool." He is not there.

Is this normal?

You can use this command in the console, but it requires you to know the guy's name in the code. Try "Gentleman Jim Stacey", "Gentleman Jim" etc...

placeatpc "whatever his name turns out to be",1,1,1

I've just remembered something else - it's generally a very good idea to do all the Bal Molagmer quests before killing Hard-Heart, as sometimes he disappears after giving you the skeleton key. You can try the console command though...don't know if it'll work.

I believe that I did do the Bal Molagmer(sp) quest before off'ing
the fighters guild guy. I will have to look at my journal and verify.

Thanks for the help..I will let you know if it works for me.

Firstly I deeply appologize for bumping a thread that's over two years old but I'm just doing to show that this is what I've discovered in searching for a solution to my problem and it doesn't help one bit.

So my problem is that I got to Mastermind, got the Skeleton Key, but now he's gone, I never made it to the Hrundi portion of the Fighter's Guild persuasion quest, and I never the the Bal Molagmer quest. I'm on x-box so console commands are of no use to me. What am I supposed to do? I've tried talking to Hrundi and there's no dialogue relevent to helping out the Thieves Guild. How am I supposed to get to Master Thief? I've done every other Thieves Guild quest I can think of. And I'm getting the same response from Crazy-Legs that others have gotten as well. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just for reference I killed Hard-Heart before even getting the quest from Jim because I just thought it needed to be done after speaking with the Former leader of the Fighters Guild. I didn't even have to taunt him into hitting first I just snuck up behind him and Whack! Then I took care of the rest of the guild members that attacked me. And surprisingly no bounty on my head for the dead. And I did bribe the Fighter's guild leader in Balmora after killing Hard-Heart. Then when I went to talk to Jim he was gone.

I realised he would disappear, so I reverted to an saved version, which was after I reported hard heart dead but before I accepted another job (taking care of the guild).

I went and did my first Bal Molagmer quest and LOTS of theiving on the side and completed another side quest. I returned and he was gone! argh.

I REALLY don't want to go so far back now, but as a thief character, I want those Bal Molagmer faction reputation points. (i would need to go way back b/c the 2nd last save I had told him I killed hard-heart)

ANYTHING else I could do?
(I even tried locating Hammerfell on maps, which Stacey says he might be going to, so I could hunt him down. lol)

I'm on PC - does the console advice from above apply? If so, could somebody explain what that means?

Thanks so much in advance, obviously a recurring problem for us noobs. lol

Oh that's how we're doing this is it?

I see, it's a test right? See how commited this new thief REALLY is? Well I rise to the challenge - I'll go right back to before the last job and re-do it all!!

You won't break me!

lol! :D

Okay, strangely enough I had to use the console code for my own missing NPC problem earlier, and it worked well.

Try pulling up your console with the tilde key (it is the squiggly line just to the left of your number one). You'll also need to press Shift at the same time.

Now type in exactly as written:
placeatpc "Gentleman Jim Stacey",1,1,1

I'm pretty sure that is his ID name, but if it isn't it should also be listed in the construction set. Though, I can't remember how to look up NPC names in there :o *crosses fingers and hopes the above is right* :D

Thanks dragon wench. :D

I've never heard of this console thing and I just tried with those keys to bring it up but nothing happened. I would be interested to find it though.

Anyway, I rolled back time and re-did it all, made it to Master Thief, so all is well.

now on to assassinating people....

On my pc, the console can be brought up with the ¬ key not the ~ key. I think it varies depending on which nationality keyboard you have. I also don't need to use the shift key to access it.

Eurpoean version is ¬ without shift. Us version is ~ with shift.
