I broke my cloak of mirroring

Post by eviljr »

I was in Suldanesslar when my pc crashed the first time thru SOA so I'm just trying to speed along now. So, I threw the Cloak of mirroring on Korgan, and I sent him delving into the beholder dungeon with the rest of the party waiting by the entrance.

I actually discovered this the first time by accident... All of the spells that the Gauths, Beholders, and other orbs threw at me were reflected back at them and they quickly died. This time through, its not happening. Korgan isn't taking any dmg at all. I originally thought I had put the wrong equipment on him.

Does anyone know what happened to my cloak. I've quit and reloaded several times to see if it were a glitch, but I can't find anything to make it function properly again.

Installing TOB causes the cloak of mirroring to work so (stops the damage but doesn't reflect it on the caster anymore).
Some patches may have the same effect.
Installed something since you first pass in the beholders' lair?
Where we came from, we don't know
Where we're going.... (even worse)
And about who we could be, we actually have trouble in clearly defining the term "to be" in the first place...

I broke my cloak of mirroring

Isn't that seven years bad luck? :)

What animation is being used when you're wearing the cloak? Is it a large swirly ball or the original silver disk at your feet?

I had to completely reinstall after a HDD crash. I had patched up to the current version as of April, which I assume hasn't changed. I have TOB though it isn't installed, and the only patch I have is the latest official release - but I thought it was the same one that I was patched up to before.

Kopy - It's the big swirly ball... It was the silver disc before.

You've just installed ToB right? ToB changes the cloak in two ways -- first, no more reflection as it now absorbs spells -- second, the animation has been changed to the big swirly ball.

EDIT: just re-read your post and you say you haven't installed ToB yet...hmm, maybe the last SoA patch changes the cloak too...

i have SOA and the latest patch and it is the disc at your feet animation

me thinks you have installed TOB (or perhaps installed a TOB patch only?)
Ancient times they had no statistics so they had to fall back on lies

"I'm invinceable"
"your a loony"

I'd rather be rich than stupid.

If trees could scream, would we be so cavalier about cutting them down? We might, if they screamed all the time, for no good reason.

aha, that could explain it. I will go review my patch version and see if I mistakenly dl'd the wrong patch. I am quite confident that TOB is not installed. As a matter of fact, SOA is currently the only program on my machine that didn't come on the same disc as the OS.
