Morale Failure....can be very funny

I think Jaheira say's somthing like "Better to fight a battle that is winnable!"

Although she might have said that in BG I can't remember. I cracked up during one encounter when she engaged a Adamantite Golem and got blasted with its first attack, her picture went all red and she took off scared out of her mind.

Anyway does anyone else know what the other npc's say when the fit has hit the shan?

:D

"Korgi" has nice quotes, but my absolute favourite is Lilacor, the speaking sword you get by solving the lil puzzle in the first level of the Slave Quest beneath the Copper Coronet.

Weather's beautiful over here in North CA. Blue skies and cool, crisp air.

When do Morale failures happen? I think I've only seen it happen to my own party members a couple times, and I've never heard them say anything when it does happen. Granted, I usually play on normal or core rules. Does this have anything to do with it?

I'm not sure when the game decides to do morale checks maybe a more informed person here could let us know....

Oh I think Viconia's line goes "No!, I'll not die like this, I'll not allow it!"

It seems the NPC's say something like that when they receive massive damage, also they might not fail the morale check so they can still be under your control. If they fail its sort of like a confusion spell although morale failure cannot be cured by any spell(I think)so you have to wait for it to wear off meanwhile they're running around all bloodied up. In certain situations it's pretty funny. :D

Both clerics and mages have spells in their arsenal to prevent morale breaks, better if they are used before an engagement, though.
Morale failure, as far i know, is bound to percentage of HP lost, there is also time to recover (Infinity explorer might show it to you). There is some probability involved, as usual. I have experienced morale failure even on dragons and even playing insane difficulty. Not on golems, undead and mind flyers, though, not on my memory. My party almost never have it since i always have cleric's 1st level spell Remove Fear ready - it is fast enough to cast an lasts hour if isn't dispelled.

I don't know what you're on about, I never have morale failure. I believe it occurred once, really, one time. Don;t recall who it happened to though.

what needs to happen before someone runs?

Morale failure can also occur through loss of party members. Try Ctrl+Y-ing four of your "friends" and watch the fifth run around in panic. :D

... additionally, a very low CHA is also one of the "things" which causes morale failure. CHA is the stat also used in "leading" the party, 'personal magnetism and leadership'. All in all, if you have dirt low CHA, your party members get big damage in a short time and some party members also die, there's a good chance that Morale Failure will occur. And Remove Fear doesn't exactly help with it. Fear and Morale Failure are different things.

But, Morale Failure can occur even with a high CHA (high being 15+), though much rarely.

Thank you Curdis. I am usually and mainly posting on Ironworks forums, but for some reason I cannot access them starting this week. As if they are down or something? But the soul craves for information and at times I try to give the information, and these forums are good as well :)
