I usually "just say no" to: wand of cloudkill, shield of balduran, and cloak of reflection. I also don't take advantage of stacking potions of master thievery to steal a bunch of stuff, but I will drink one.

I'm not sure if this counts, but depending on my alignment, I may purposely not get some items. For example, if I'm playing a good aligned wizard, I won't get the ***LOOK AWAY-- SPOILER** staff of power from the kiddies in the Planar Sphere, because they have to die first. That just struck me as wrong.

Most of the times I skipped Staff of Magi and Cloak of Mirroring.
In my latest games I'm playing a solo sorcerer without using any items (except the quest items).

i almost never swap npcs personal equipment like the delryn family shield and other...

and i also never buy any magic equipment from stores exept for the adventure mart but there i limit myself to buy only three magic items, does anyone else do this?

Definitely..

Having +four party member's equipt with seven odd magic items each doesn't fit into my view of an RPG realm, especial wielding almost all of the Uber ancient and historic items in Amn. Other NPCs in the realm certainly aren't anywhere near as decked out. You don’t need to be; I guess its just up to the player. Myself, I tend to keep it around three noteworthy items each.

As for NPC's personal equip, I wont touch it - the items are usualy family tresrs so it doesnt feel right.

Where have all the power gamers gone? *sniff* :( :D

It really depends on the class, if i am using a weaker class and/or character then i will beef them up with the more powerful weapons, at the expense of my tanks who will have poor weapons.

Wow, and I thought I was everyone was a power gamer. I personally try to roleplay all of the characters in my party according to their traits. My paladin wont use a missle weapon, or dual weild because that's not the way he was when I first made him years ago. My thief however, has no problem swiping an item or two from a noble or shopowner, but he wont kill innocents or anything like that for an item. I was torn about doing the thief stronghold quests b/c of the killing, but I decided that the Cowled Wizard was evil anyway, hehe. It's great to see that there are still some roleplayers out there. In the PnP gaming world, we always say there are 'role'players, and there are 'roll'players-meaning all they care about is gaining power and stats so they can roll the dice and deal out damage.

You guys think BGII is bad, in Might and Magic you end up with a party that is basically head to toe outfitted in artifacts, flying around the whole time raining damage spells down, and teleporting constantly from town to town like nothing. It makes the TOB party with boots of speed for every member look weak. ;)

I just use the direct modem for multiplayer games. Never figured out the online network business.

And, if you want role-playing, how about in PnP D&D, playing a Sorceress that is afraid of magic? I had a killer background made up too. And then my DM quit. *grumble*

I usually 'role'play a rather pragmatic type that does not care whether his implement of destruction is a sword or a mace, as long as it hurts monsters. :D What does that make me?
