The class you´ll use for your main character...

Well? I have been a rogue/fighter or rogue/ranger fan for some time but I started a new game in Diablo 2 as an assassin and her claw weapons are so cool. I taught that daggers would be quite close to them in Black Isle games but then I realized...we now have the MONK! I started a new game in BG2 as a monk and it seemed to suite me fine: I don´t have to trouble my head with a question "What weapon should I use?" and "Which armor is best?" cos´ I have my 100% nature product fists. Also there is this hide in shadows, find traps and (I love this part) FAST MOVEMENT!
In ID2 I can take a rogue level for removing traps and pick locks and sorceror levels to cast some spells (only to get some extra spice for my char.) and then I can develop a hayaa ninja fighter. Like this: Rog lvl1 or 2/Sor lvl 2-4/Monk lvl XX (Right Kayless ;) )
There are some thongs about monk that trouble me:
1.Why does it have to be a MONK?!? Why not a ninja for example...I´m not a robed preast-like religion fanatic who lives in a selibat
2.The animation...oh God! A monk looks soooo stupid and somehow stiff. He kicks oddly and his clothes are that of a human fighter. Why didn´t they make a whole new outfit for the monk?

Finally here is my char.:
Mi´enna female human rogue/sorceror/monk
STR:15
DEX:18
CON:16
INT:14
WIS:14
Char:16
She might have a nice lil´ familiar a small dragon maybe...

hehe

well i've always been a sucker for the strong fighter type characters. I'm partial to Paladins/Rangers/Clerics etc..., i dont know why, i just prefer them. Granted i always make at least 1 incredibly evil character (my current assassin in BG2 rox) but my first time through i'm ALWAYS a "heroic fighter type" character hehe.

My 2 cents

I've always been one for monks, my first PnP char was a monk and I'll prob'ly be one in ID2.

I'd love to try a monk now, but I've always regretted the monk's inability to wield and wear goodies. Still, who knows...? Maybe I'll take a level of wizardry on top of regular monkhood, just enough to use wands. :)

hmmm

given the newly implemented thief skill *use items* i'm really considering making a straight thief. The thought of an cutpurse using a two handed Battle axe, While silly, also opens up a variety of new Roleplaying elements. You could specialize your thief much more than in previous installments of the game. For instance you could make an assassin who makes his kills with a wand of fire, or even a swashbuckler who wields a mace/axe combination...............the possibilities are endless........!!! :p

I'm very satisfied with my Ranger/Rogue in NWN, so I'll absolutely create one for IWD2. Apart from that, I prefer Bards and Invokers.

@Mianna

I sent you a PM regarding portrait editing five days ago. I see you still haven't read it - do you know how to access your PM?

Well, I think my main char will be an aasimar paladin, don't know about his stats though. A svirfneblin fighter is also an option. I love paladins, because they resemble to knights, that I so much admire...on the other hand, the svirfnebli(?) have always fascinated me, so it's hard tell just. Well, anyway, both of them will be included in my party ;)

Oh, Mianna, by the way, I don't think Finland's Icewind Dale in reality ;) I've always pictured Alaska to be like Icewind Dale...but anyway, nice to meet a fellow finn round here...

I've read somewhere that sorcs can only learn 25% of the available mage spells. Anyone know if this is so?

A drow ranger/rogue. Hehehe, doubt I'll name him Drizzt though...

Any ranger/rogue would be pretty damn cool and will most likely be my first main character.

A staight out wild elven Ranger wielding 2 longswords... definetly... and oh yeah: I think Alaska is Icewind Dale in real life, too.

Where I live this IS a real Icewind Dale...when the first snow comes you get your clothes dirty and wet (and then those ***holes drive a Mercedes so fast that they throw tons of dirt). When it´s heart winter there is a layer of snow on the roads and underneath there is a thick layer of INCREDIBLY slippery ice! And they don´t put any sand on the roads. And then we have at least 1 long powercut per winter (luckily we also have a fireplace inside the house). And plus I have to either walk or cykle to school at winter. 2km fighting through rough wind and slippery road while others sit inside a bus...luckily I´m used to all of this :D

I beleave that Fable is correct. I'm a big fan of sorcerers but a friend of mine prefers Mages so we always debat them and it seem that the sorcerers one big weakness it a lack of spell verity. Mages get every spell they can get their hands on but a sorcerer learns about 1 to 3 each time he levels.

Main character will be a human Paladin. Or not. I dunno. I don't even know why I answered this thread. I better go and take some more medication. Bye.

1. This is 3ed so all thief and spiecal things are called SKILLS, monks are open to the hide skill but with that one level of rogue(have that be first level for most skill pionts)you can choose the other as class skills(cross class skill cost double), a level four sorc will beable to use Invablly so that is good.
2.Monks dont have to be priests, they are warriors first and formost.
3. The monk animation is gone, lt will use the fighter animation
4. There are NO F*CKING FAMILIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
