What does "keen" mean in weapon descriptions?

it means the weapon makes more critical hits. A weapon that normally criticals on a 20 will crit on a 19 or 20. A weapon that criticals on a 19-20 will critical on a 17-20.

You know I have read this in several places including the game but I have a keen 2 bladed sword (Uthgardt ceremonial made in chapter 1 at forge) and this is so. But it also says the effect is tripled if used in conjuction with improved critical on that type weapon. Well the character sheet does not show the triple effect of combining both. I mean according to manual and game this 19-20 crit should now be 15-20 but it only shows 17-20.

Must be a glitch. With any weapon where the original crit range is 19-20 then add on Keen should take it to 17-20 then improved crit should drop it to 15-20. My ranger/rogue fights with 2 longswords and has improved crit. The crit range on his keen longsword is 15-20x2

Whoa, wait a minute... where did you get a keen longsword?
I checked all the listed longswords on the gamebanshee site and there are no keen longswords. Which one are you using??

Thats what the toolset is for. I went in and created a magic item for each of my characters Im playing through the game with(currently 4). I gave my ranger/rogue a +1 Keen longsword, my wizard a staff that gives a +1 bonus to AC, so on and so forth. Nothing gamebreaking just something tailored to them. The items are actually scaled down versions of items the characters had when I played them in pen and paper D&D.

You can if you want the game to be ridiculously easy. That and the only time you can give yourself these items is at the beginning of the game and when you start a new chapter.

I'm gonna make that double-sword that the guy used in "Ninja Scrolls."
It's the one he used one handed and throws like a boomerang to kill the entire ninja party. Then he takes the girl home with him and has his way with her. Graphic? You bet! But the sword he uses is crazy!
Hrmmm... he was made of stone, so it should have stoneskin as a bonus, or maybe charges.
He was also uber strong, so it will have +STR.
Maybe add keen and massive criticals and I have a new toy!
