Refused Edwin's first quest, Yoshimo keeps complaining

During the Renal Bloodscalp quest to infiltrate Mae'Var's guild, I was sent to Edwin by Mae'Var. Edwin wanted me to kill someone and I refused. His henchmen attacked me and he disappeared. Is the quest ruined? Ever since Yoshimo keeps stating "I am not worried, I'm sure these setbacks are only temporary". Did I ruin the bloodscalp quest? Edwin cannot be found. How do I shut Yoshimo up?

I'm totally not sure, but I think Yoshimo keeps talking about the setbacks because you dual-classed him, and he hasn't leveled up enough to regain his thief skills yet. That was certainly the case in my games when Yoshimo started complaining about setbacks.
As for the Blood Scalp quest, yeah that is probably ruined, check the Journal and see what it says, if the infiltration of Mae'Var's guild quest is in the Done Quests section, then it's over. If it's still in the Quests section, chances are, there's still a chance at salvaging the situation, but I don't know how. The Journal might hold cluse to that.

Thanks for the info. If Yoshimo isn't complaining about Bloodscalp's quest, then perhaps I will skip it. I did hack my save game to allow me to bypass the Edwin quests and get Renal's permission to kill Mae'Var... but who knows what problems that might cause down the road.
My Journal indicates that I am to seek out Edwin on the third floor. I may try finding the guy he wants me to kill and see if Edwin reappears after the deed is done.

Yoshimo also complains like that when your reputation is too high. (19 and 20)

Ahh... didn't think of that. That's what he means by "set-backs".
So, would I be best off in my party to bring the rep down a few notches (I am at 20)? I have:

Your rep is fine, there is a way to get Edwin's documents without bloodshed - pickpocket (Yoshimo can handle it)
