Worth buying now?

Well, I"ve been over at amazon, and this guy was saying that Neverwinter Nights is a good game itself, but bugged real bad, causing tons of crashes, errors, data corruption, as well as incompatibility problems with the latest components. Also mentioned was Bioware's paranoid attitude about piracy, making legit CD owners unable to properly install the game - and Bioware keeps saying, "update your drivers."
I take it that it's quite unstable, so I was wondering if I should wait a while for things to get fixed. I want to ask the people who played it: is it as buggy as BG2?
EDIT: Oh yeah, how is it compared to W3? I think it's pretty good, with no bugs at all.

I have Win Me and have had maybe 2 or 3 crashes since I bought it when it came out, I don't know about win xp users but I've been browsing several forums and have not seen that many people complain about too many crashes. That guy was probably a dungeon siege or diablo fan trying to flame this great game. Buy it, if you like a good RPG. It's not BG2 though, but it is a great game.

I'm one of those lucky guys who rarely runs into bugs. I guess I was due, because I have hit more bugs in this game than all the games I've ever played combined. Some are just annoying (unbeatable acid traps

), but there was one quest I couldn't finish because the game froze every time I tried to get a reward, and one major bug that kept me from going on to Chap 3. I had to go into toolset and do some script editing to get it to let me go on. (No, I didn't figure that out on my own, I got it online.) It's not BG2, but I enjoyed it.
Oh, as far as WC3, totally different game. Must say though that Blizzard came through again!

As buggy as BGII? I've never heard of BG2 being buggy. But I have heard that NWN causes problems for some people. I myself, once I updated my outdated video card, have had no problems whatsoever. It's definitely a good game, though. If you go buy it and it won't work right on your computer, you can probably return it at the store you bought it anyway.

I've experienced some bugs with W2K (like rare random crashes, equipment stuck in inventory slots, situations where your char can't move anymore) but overall the game is pretty good quality and I guess Bioware will fix the remaining bugs soon.
As far as I'm able to judge software quality issues I'd say that Bioware did a good job with updates in the past and the bugs in NWN are no reason not to buy the game IMHO.

I also ran into a feezing bug, most times it happened when there was alot of action onscreen. Although I haven't had many of crashe, too date about 4-5. and I've played the game through.
The action would stop and if I continue to move my mouse the pointer would change from the hand to my windows pointer, that's when I know the game had crashed.
But as I said, it hasn't happened often, but there was a time it happened when I was pretty far into a quest and I hadn't saved...but we've all been there

I bought NWN on Sunday and have logged about 10 hours of completely bug-free play. I am running a home-built P3-866, 384 MB SDRAM, Soyo SY-7VCA2 mobo, ATI Rage Fury Pro video, Creative SoundBlaster 5.1 sound, Windows 98SE and the latest (v1.19) patch. Some of the movies are running a little slow, but I think that's a video card issue, not a game issue.
There are some other folks around here (ie-Aegis) who have had some major problems, so you might want to compare systems with them to see if you might be prone to some hardware or compatibility issues. However, my experience has been very positive from a stability viewpoint and even the people who have had problems aren't having the same kinds of problems folks had with POR2 (erasing hard drives, etc.)
By the way, I got my copy at Sam's Club for $46 and some change, so if you want to save $13 off of the MSRP at a store (Babbage's, Electronics Boutique, etc.) see if your local Sam's has it in stock.

I've got an AMD Athlon and a Invidia video card, with 256M of ddram. I'm running Windows XP. I'm in Chapter 2 now, and have had absolutely no problems at all, (besides getting my butt kicked every now and then!) I haven't gotten into an rpg like this since I finished BGII. I feel it is definitely worth the money. Go ahead and buy it, you won't regret it.

@Phantom Lord: Equipment stuck in inventory slots, as in it won't go into one your magic bags, leaves a shadow of the item in its original place, etc...? If so, all you have to do is go into the magic bag and place the item specifically in the space you want it. Then it'll go in with no problem. This bug seems to come up only with magic items, as it's never happened to me with an unenchanted item.

Nope, the equipment was simply stuck in my inventory and showed no reaction on mouse-clicks (both left and right) but I couldn't place anything else into the space it occupied. The items in question were some magical items and one quest item (a certain urn).
I saved the game, exited the game, restarted, reloaded and afterwards anything worked normal. I've identified a lot of stuff before this happened and maybe that was the reason.
@HLD's system request:
MSI K7 Turbo RAID / Athlon 1600 / Prophet 4500 / MoBo onboard sound / 256 MB PC 133 RAM / W2K SP2
