Rebooting Problem?

I recently was playing PoR, and my computer shut down by itself. To make a long story short, I lost EVERYTHING on my hard drive, and had to reformat. Oh, the humanity.

In any event, has anyone ever heard of this happening? I am using a 1.2 GhZ, 256k, 80 G, with a 64mB Nvidia Graphics board and WindowsME (garbage..oops, did I say that).

Any input would be helpful.

Yes, there are some reports of the same thing, i don't know why this is happening to some people but it is stated that it has something to do with some specific configuration of hardware.

As far as i know the latest patch resovle this issues. Was your game patched?

No, I did't patch it. I'm really new to gaming, and I get mixed information. The kid at EB told me two things. He told me first that I was too old to be playing these games (I wanted to tie his tooth to a rope and pull really hard) and then he told me I wouldn't need the patch because this release was done after the patch was released, and it was already included in my software.

I think I learned a few valuable lessons.
1. Never listen to a 17 year old with pimples who works at a certain retail shop, and
2. Just listen to what I'm reading on these message boards.

It seems you guys know more about this than some clerk who knows nothing.

I don't mean to sound condescending, I'm just frustrated because I lost my entire hard drive.

I can only suggest to reinstall the game and apply the latest patch. Check the sticky thread on top or click here. :)
