OK then, having completed the game I was wondering if Aribeth's death by the PC's hand is inevitable. I am aware of the various persuade option which open up during your conversation with her; after several attempt they have not worked once. Please note that I do not wish to know what happens if she can be saved (though I am reminded of Arin Gend's comment about Lord Nasher perhaps being given a chance to redeem himself...), merely whether or not it is, to the best of your knowledge,
possible.

Cheers!

re:

I've heard that if your persuasion is high enough, you can successfully persuade Aribeth to not fight. This was from the NWN/Bioware forum...

If you have a male character she gives you a ring in chapter 2 after she tells you a tale. Then at the end, you show her the ring and she will stop fighting and turn herself in. You can talk to her later in the prison and she admits that she has fallen in love with you.

Even if you're not male, you can persuade her not to fight and to turn herself over to Nasher. -Very- disappointing to me, though, because you never find out what happens to her. She sits in her cell awaiting judgement, you go off and do the endgame, and there's no mention of her.

SPOILER*** you've been warned ***

I remember that ring..but it was taken by the game when I entered lusken, I never got it back.

And yes it is possible to persuade her not to fight/turn herself in, I did this although I had a Charisma of 19 or 20 and my persuade was at 20 as well. I have a question related to this below

When attempting to persuade her I had serveral chances(used every chance I had) to ask her to fight by my side in the final sequence, this is of course after I persuaded her to turn herself in, but she also said the the Old One(I forget the name) has too much of a hold over her and that she couldn't take the risk of turning on me, did anyone get her to do this? is it possible? or did they just dangle that in front of us like a carrot?

Did anyone else think her story rang false according to her character, I mean she wasn't controlled, she got manipulated in her dreams to kill innocent people..women and children died because this Paladin decided it was unjust for her lover to be sentenced to death for his blind devotion to Desther(sp?) She even tells the character that he was a fool to trust him so much. And to have her character(a Paladin) decide to switch sides along with her morals and begin slaughtering men women and children who already have suffered at the hands of the plague just doesn't work for me. I was believing she was controlled when the story took that turn but at the end when she confronts the PC she acts like she wasn't controlled, that she made the decision to do these things, I remmeber she said somthing like, "it affected her when each innocent died" and then follows that up with "she has a hold over me" it seems her motivations could have been written better or in my case re-written as I don't buy it.

How did you achieve a Charisma of 19/20 and a Persuade value of 20?

I only have a Cha of 15 and my persuade is over 20. I am 14th level and have persuade maxed out which is 17, plus my Cha bonus of +2, and I have a helm that adds 5 to Persaude, so that puts it at 24. I am just in chapter 2 and plan to keep on adding to persaude. Hope to be level 20 by the time I meet her so should have Persuade close to 30. So I will let you know if it is possible to persuade her into fighting along side of you.

The ring was taken from you by mistake in V1.18. That bug was corrected in V1.19. But the only way to get it back was once you start chapter 4, save your Character. THen start Chapter 2 loading your saved character. Talk to Aribeth and get the ring again. Save character and then start chapter 4.

A useful tip.

Ahhhh.. thanks Datt.

My character was a Paladin and I purposefully point alot of points into persuade and I eventually got a few items(armor/helm/cloak) that added like 5-6 points to my charisma.
