SK ring of free action

I accidentally sold my ring of free action, and since it comes in quite handy when you have the Sola mod.....I decided to use Shadowkeeper to edit it back in. Not really paying attention I simply placed it on Solaufein...and I was quite shocked to discover that a certain battle was suddenly far easier than I remembered.....
After the battle I noticed that Sola was moving very quickly...so intrigued....I looked at his inventory and found that the edited in ring of free action had added 100 HP, and upon looking at his portrait I realised that he was under an improved haste spell.....

The ring's description says nothing about any of this, and I have double-checked SK as well, but again no information appears.

Has anyone else discovered that the SK ring of free action becomes "the ring of cheese" ?

Yup, it added 100 hp to my char as well, after installing a mod.
Also, my boots of speed won´t come off (like Imoen´s girdle).
I think it´s a bug in SK that occurs after installing a mod. :confused:

Quite possibly....I have Sola, Tashia and Kelsey.....
I downloaded SK after the mods....but I suspect in this case the order not may not make much difference.......

*shrug* Oh well there are worse bugs ;)

There are six "Rings of Free Action" in the game. Calling one of them a "SK Ring of Free Action" is a misnomer. ShadowKeeper doesn't add any items to the game; it merely makes all of the game's resources available to you. FWIW, all of them come with SoA/ToB, even without any MODs.

The ring you lost is probably the one that has the item code "RING09". Whenever I cheat, that's the ring I give to my characters. That ring used to have a problem with the Boots of Speed in BG1, but it was fixed in BG2. When I played BG1, I gave my character the ring that has the item code "MAGE05" because it didn't interfere with the Boots of Speed. I wouldn't be surprised if the other "Rings of Free Action" still have the same problem.

Now I come to a subject that is difficult to explain, but I'll give it a try. A lot of items in the game were never meant to be used by your characters. They were created to give NPCs and monsters special abilities. For example, golems and vampires wear a "ring" that gives them immunity to non-magical weapons. The "ring" is undroppable, so that's why you never find one on a corpse. Those monsters' immunity to non-magical weapons is supposed to be innate, not the result of an item, but the only way for the game designers to give them such immunity was to create an item that gives it to them. As such, it is not a real "item" the way that you're used to thinking of items.

Yes, ShadowKeeper gives you access to these pseudo-items and lets you put them on your own characters. But you shouldn't think of them as "items". For example, if you give your character the ring that makes golems immune to non-magical weapons, don't think of it as "giving your character a special ring"; instead, think of it as "giving your character immunity to non-magical weapons". See the difference?

Back to the subject at hand, there are two "Rings of Free Action" that give your character 100 extra hit points and a faster movement rate (among other things). They have the item codes ROSSRING and JWSUPER. The other two "Rings of Free Action" (besides RING09 and MAGE05) are FREERING and ALDETH.
