Is it me or is the sling of seeking the best sling in SoA or ToB??!! It adds the strength bonus which makes the damage addition much more than any other sling provided you give the character using it a girdle of strength (doesnt matter which) The THAC0 bonus becomes negligible at high levels.
For Archers :
Since THAC0 becomes -10 or better when you get later into the game, wouldnt this sling be much better than anything else, say the arvoreen or the precious erenne sling, and since it comes so early, you cant deny the power of this simple +2 weapon.

i'm with you on this one.
note: IIRC, sling of everard adds STR bunus, but it's cheese. and anyway, those bullets +2 are too good to sell!

I never found too much use for a sling.
Still think a returning throwing axe or hammer is much better.
But the Avoreen gives +4 on Thac0 and +4 on damage and is the perfect mage weapon- except for the Staff of the Magi

Everard's sling, because it can hit Kangaxx.

Anomen, Jaheira, Aerie, Cernd, and Edwin can all use slings and they are the are a good missile weapon considering how many there are early on.
Kangaxx needs 1 hit in demi lich form from the mace of disruption +2 and he goes down, as do most liches (they have an awful save vs death) so I dont even bother with everard sling which is a hefty 35000 gold compared to seeking which is .....FREE!!

ok, some facts about slings...ALL slings with ammo gets the str bonus, so after extensive experiments with various slings and ammo on the walls of saradush....
that +5 sling you get at lv 5 of watchers keep is the best...with +4 ammo....
sling of seeking is only middling good....
everard sling is ok, as long as you put in ammo, then it becomes better, you get the thaco bonus and ammo bonus...but avoreen is better, since you get damage bonus....
and if your cleric is below str 21, they should be raised for better effect...

Slings are not a good choise for Archers, as they cannot grand master in Slings. Otherwise, the dual Archer/Cleric (had there not also been a problem with Ranger Kit/Clerics...) would have been a hit. An Archer also has a higher Rate of Fire with a Bow than with a Sling, making the total damage with the Bow higher.

I do believe that sling of everard is the most damaging sling in the game if equipped with those +4 bullets.

sorry bruce, youre wrong...
i had aerie with high str belt on walls of saradush try out both everard and erlinmeyer sling and +4 bullets, and the erlinmeyer sling did twice the damage.....
but the everard sling, with LOW + bullets can and will hit more reisistant monsters, like adamanite golems...if you only got +2 bullets, i have seen aerie take out kangaxx with sling....
even though you have only +1 or +2 bullets, thus still getting the str bonus, you still with every round is sending hte bullet, with str bonus and bullet bonus, AND the ghost bullet, which does low damage, but is natively +5, so always hits even demiliches....
much like the infamous firetooth and bolts of biting trick, everard is not the highest damage, the other +4 and +5 slings are, cause they add damage modifier, teh everard sling will almost always get thru and hit...

Actually the sling of everard does have a higher maximum damage. I am unsure of the average damage.
To verify this try them with a blade and activate offensive spin...I know you hate bards user but they are very useful even when experimenting.
With a blade proficient in slings and with 25 strength sling of everard will do 24 damage if equipped with +4 bullets. Erienne will do 23. Maximum damage that is. Offensive spin adds 2 to damage but it doesn't matter since it does it to both slings.
Clearly Everard is better since you have the option to use it as a +5 weapon aswell. Not to mention that it is easier to aquire!!

Great job Bruce!
Now user must admit that bards are useful for something!

NEVER!...
though i admit i will get alessa the bard from a new mod from lucythebeast when it comes out....have you read up on her????
ROFL!!!! food coming outa my nose!!!!
whmmm..really wierd...i typically use the no autopause saradush firing range...
go to saradush, and turn off auto pause, and deploy party next to the guy on the walls...i test weapons the hard way, and use many hundreds of rounds per weapon to really test the stuff out...
my experience has been the high + slings are better, but could be everard is better somehow in bard hands...
but you all know my opinion on bards.....
but yeah, now i think about it...teh best shortbow in game is not tarlsh, but gesen with good ammo...always hits and does mondo damage,
could be the offensive spin is boosting the ghost bullet damage...yeah...teh ghost bullet is only a +2 or so damage, or no bonus at all, but if the spin boosts both the real bullet and ghost bullet, hmmmm....
but anyway, i think i was trying to say while the erlinmeyer is better for damage purposes, the everard is generally tactically more useful...
i generally give jahiera erlineyer or avoreen and aerie everard...

This is interesting user. I haven't thought of that. You may be right that offensive spin gives a +2 to both forms of damage from the sling of everard. I know it doesn't give +2 to every form of damage from say the dragons breath. Will test it by giving someone who can use slings kai.
Still I think Everard is the best sling.

dont use kai, just have aerie test out with that spell righteous magic...that always works, and lasts for several rounds...
i think i did indeed try it with aerie and righteous magic...my assessment is erlenmeyer sling does do more damage...
but offensive spin does indeed add to the base damage modifier, and i wonder if enhanced bard song, which i think does add to damage will add bonuses too...
BUT BARDS ARE STILL USELESS....
sorry, but i hate bards...but alessa might change my mind...mostly for keeping the party amused, but her stats are so low to begin with her primary function will be to keep party amused...
and needling keldy...
always a good thing....

oh yeah, spells are not counted as attacks, remember??
this is why you cannot use g deathblow with necklace of missiles, its counted as a spell, not attack...
but i wonder if harm can work with g deathblow...
nahhh....
g deathblow will punch thru and kill by level, so no possible benefit will happen....
but the way the game engine processes spells is diff than attacks...all attacks are enhanced by spin, but NO spells...this is why inc acuity will not give you more attacks per round, only imp haste, and vice versa....
imp haste will not give you more spells per round, or we would have it all the time...

Okay User...what kind of tests are you running?

I just tested with Aerie and rigtheous magic and still Everard does one more damage the Erienne.
Only Everard does 20 damage, Erienne and +4 bulets does 28 and Everard and +4 bullets does 29.
I wonder why Aerie does more damage than a bard in offensive spin...
