Will Icewind Dale II make use of this sort of thing in the same way as neverwinter? It's interesting I'm asking this as I've never played neverwinter. And how far do you think it will go? I know they have pregenerated parties that's like them recommending everything at the beginning of the game. Will they be able to help you out at level up's or is it completely up to you? Do they have individually generated characters that you can import into a party?
Maybe we'll come up with answers to a few of these questions.

I have NWN and I had a couple of peeks at what the Recommended button would have given me. I was unimpressed, and consequently made my own choices. In my humble opinion, anyone taking ten minutes to actually read the options presented can do as well as the Recommended button, experience or no.

That Recommended Button is malignant device designed by the Baatezu to lead adventures astray.
Let us pray IWD2 is not cursed with such a thing (or at least get it working right and suggest good feats and skills).

Ok maybe you thought they were bad beacuse you already had an idea of how you wanted to use your character but perhaps if you had let it go then found your characters strengths you would have found you had a good character. Of course I don't know as I haven't played NWN. This dosen't make sense in the context of one character but if you have six maybe you would let one develop as if an npc who accompanied the party. Of course I don't think any of this matters as I haven't heard of a recommended button in IWD 2.

I thought the recommended chose pretty good choices in the rogue class. Don't know about other though.

The key to the Recommended button is that they're good after a generic fashion. If you want to specialize your character in anyway, or take advantage of any particular combination of skills, you'll need to ignore the button and "roll your own."
