Thieves guild query

The thieves guild won't allow me to join for some reason, all I get is "We have standards and you do not meet them." I butchered the Camonna Tong at the behest of Larrius Varro, what more do they want?!

Yeah, unfortunetly-if you are not already part of the thieves guild and you have a high price on your head-they wont allow you to join. The high price on your head basically says to them that you are a wreckless murderer. Whether it is a correct assumption or not, it doesnt matter. What I would do, is load before you got the high price on your head-then join the thieves guild-then murder everyone in the commona tong. After that remove the price from your head via the thieves guild and everyone should be happy again.

The bounty on my head is zero (just as well as I have spent all my gold on training miscellaneous skills!). I have a rep of 6 which doesn't seem very high but may precede me?

I was trying to play a goodie two shoes character, helping people and stuff. I've had enough of that, ungrateful swine! So I joined the assassins who seem to be a fun group

BTW saw your tip on the heavy armour thread, went and got the armour of the lord which is a great piece of kit. Unfortunately it looks terrible when worn with the rest of my ebony gear

Yeah, I know. Looks count half as much as good items, IMO. Unless, of coarse I am doing things well beyond my level of capability. Looking good is as essential as beating the crap out of your opponents

You got it, man. Any fool can crack heads, the secret is in looking good whilst doing it!

Sadly it is impossible to sell the armour of the lord at 190k drakes!! The amount of bartering you would have to do would take weeks in real time!!

Thieves Guild

Have you joined any other Factions? If you are a member of the Imperial Legion, House Hlaalu, or House Redoran you may not be able to join because of hostile feelings. Also, if you've been caught stealing from a guild member they may not let you in.

Well Ive been in house hlaalu, and Imperial Legion and also been in the thieves guild-no one had any problems with that.

I am a member of both House Hlaalu and the Legion. Maybe it's because I did most of the fighter's guild quests before I found out they were dominated by the Cammona Tong. I can't remember whether any of the quests involved killing thieves or not. I certainly didn't do Sjoring Hardheart's quest to kill 3 leaders of the thieves.

There are 2 other quests that have to deal with killing or stealing from thieves in the thieves guild for the fighters guild. For the code book-did you rob her, persuade her, or kill her (Sottilde)? And the Tongue Toad quest: Did you kill him, or let him go free?

Those are the only two quests that I can think of that would make the thieves guild think less of you.

i had the same thing happen to me. it was right after i killed 1 theieves giuld hot shot in Ald Ruhn.

I bribed Sottilde into giving me the book and I let Tongue Toad leave town, though I did get a bit upset when he didn't actually leave and hassled him a bit.
