Trapped

On my second venture through BGII I've managed to get myself trapped in Mekrath's tower (you know, that wizard in the sewers who takes Haer Dallis captive). The problem is that when I try to exit the tower by coming down the stairs, I come out in a completely different place to where I entered. I end up looking out of a balcony in the Bridge District unable to get down to ground level.
This happens irrelevant of if I kill the wizard or not, take his small quest or not or free Haer Dallis or not. I also tried installing TOB and it made no difference.
Am I trapped forever?

Think of Mekrath's lair as the second floor of a three-story building. One side of the staircase goes up to the balcony, and the other side of the staircase goes down to the sewers. Try moving your mouse cursor to the other side of the stairs, and then click on it. You shouldn't be stuck.

Yea, you should try clicking a different part of the staircase. Then you should be ok.

I got back at Querschen for that in
this thread. (Warning: SPOILERS.) Some people can dish it out; let's see if they can take it.

Thanks everyone for the helpful advice and Querschen, you're clearly quite a loser yourself if you can be so pointlessly rude to a lady. I pity you and your shocking manners.
