Main Character Special Abilities Help

Hey there,
Hope this isnt redundant, but I couldnt find this topic in past threads...
Has anyone put together a list of the player character special abilities from BG:SoA?
I know they accumulate and change throughout the game, but
are they also different based on alignment or race?
I know there are different class special abilities, but I have gotten other skills
such as cure light wounds, larlochs minor drain, draw holy might, slow poison...
of course the child of bhaal skill you discover later... but these tend to differ with race and/or alignment.
Thanks,
ElfEleven

If you are good, you get cure light, if evil, larloch's minor drain, I think that is the only difference, but ......SPOILER

In the asylum, after Jon takes your soul, you loose them all, but after the asylum, you gain slayer change (the slayer is a big evil monster that can regenerate VERY fast, and gets a bunch of special abilities, but I have no idea what they are, as I have never willingly used it)
P.S. If you have ToB installed, you can start to get high level abilities, these make the game much Much more fun.. hehehe :D

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there also a patch you can install to get the Bhallspawn abilities that were left out of the game? I think there is a link to it in the corssroads sticky.

There are a tone of patches, mods, etc in links in the Crossroads sticky at the top of the page. They have instruction as to how to install them at the respective sights.....generally with a setup program or unzipping them to the override directory or something to that effect.

There are at least two MODs that do that. One is the Ascension MOD, which was developed by David Gaider, a Designer at Bioware, with some help from other people. According to him, it was a simple matter of writing a script to enable those abilities, since the abilities themselves are already encoded in the game. At the last minute, Bioware decided that having so many abilities would be confusing to players, so they weren't implemented. The Ascension MOD gives players the choice of restoring them. The other MOD, which I haven't seen, probably does exactly the same thing.

if you get Dan Simpson's walkthrough at Gamefaq(i think that's where it is) he's got all kinds of info like that... very useful to know.

You get a combination of the folowing depending upon your alignment:
cure light wounds, slow poison, draw upon holy might, larloch's minor drain, horror, and vampiric touch.

Lawful Good- 2 cure wounds, 2 slow poisons, 2 holy mights
Neutral Good- same as above
Chaotic Good- one of each, the most diverse
Lawful Neutral- two each of the following: minor drain, slow poison, vamp touch
True Neutral- 2 cures, 2 horrors, 1 holy might, 1 vamp touch
Chaotic Neutral- one each of: minor drain, cure wounds, slow poison, horror and 2 vampiric touches
Lawful Evil and Chaotic Evil- 2 minor drains, 2 horrors, 2 vamp touches
Neutral Evil- 2 larloch's minor drains, 2 vampiric touches, 1 horror and 1 slow poison

and all this changes when Jon-boy takes your mojo!

Hope this helps out anyone else with the same questions I had,
and please feel free to add any corrections or differing info...

also,
i believe cleric and druid spells differ depending upon alignment as well
anybody want to elaborate on that?

cheers elfeleven_

arent all druids True Neutral anyways?
i was thinking 3rd Edition rules...

Yes, Evil Cleric spells are a little bit different from Good Cleric spells. Turn Undead also works differently.

As for Druids, there is at least one point in their development where they have to choose between a "Good" spell and an "Evil" spell, since they can only have one or the other, but not both. (I'm referring to one of the High Level Abilities in Throne of Bhaal.)

hmm, you're speaking about the additional ToB abilities, but I didn't get them with Ascension, I had to take them from Baldurdash

I dont understand some of these replies to the original post...
(actually think I got my questions all sorted out, but now I'm curious)

first, I have a Mac (no, thats NOT why i dont understand, you wise apple) and I dont have Throne of Bhaal yet... patiently waiting for macplay to get it together.
but please explain to me this 'baldurdash' and the afore mentioned 'crossroads stickey' and 'asscension' thingey, and where to get these things if, at all, they will actually work with my operating system, or is it just a console adjustment?

and how do people feel about these enhanced abilities?
is it 'cheating'? does it make the game play too easy or more fun?

cheers.

Baldurdash - a very good collection of bugfixes and some cheats

The BG reference crossroads (NO SPAM) - a thread with a very large collection of various web sites that are related to the game; whether that be patches, Mods, portraits, etc.

Ascension - Throne of Bhaal Mod, originally created by Dave Gaider, converted to WeiDU format for easier installation and compatibility issue - don't think it's Mac compatible yet.

thanks for the link,
youve got an impressive amount of work there...
but arent these all windows compatible?

Yes, they are for Windows. I have no idea what the Mac version of the game is like so I wouldn't know if they work with Mac or not.
