I didn't know a thing about alignment changes untill I read the thread about Viconia romance but when and where will it happen and which NPC will have it??
I read that Sarevok will change.
I made it a Spoiler cause I wasn't sure but I think that some people rather won't know when it will happen.

Sarevok will change alignments if you chose the right dialouge options.
Vic will change if you are romancing her and choose the right options.
Location and timing for both are random, and i think you must be of a good alignment to get them to change.

THNX I think I can't make them change because I'm a true neutral assassin/mage.
Thanks anyway

Are there any penalties for either NPC changing alignment like in the PnP game?

Sarevok will change, if you choose the correct dialogue options. Also, (highlight for spoiler) you must NOT put him under an oath at the start.

I don't think they suffer any penalties for changing their alignment. I'm not familiar with PnP rules; what sort of penalties might there be?
Viconia doesn't become Good (she doesn't change THAT much); she promises to "try to be a better person" and changes to Neutral. Are you sure the main character has to be of Good alignment for that to happen?
BTW, Gaxx_Firkraag, I'm not sure that what you said in your spoiler is true. The game uses sort of a point-keeping system to keep track of how successful you are in changing the way that Sarevok thinks, and of course it checks your character's alignment and probably his Reputation as well. Did you look at all the dialogue branches with a viewer such as Infinity Explorer?

@ VonDondu,
In the PnP game, there might be an experience dock if the chararcter's alignment is changed and, for instance, the intentional change is seen as clearly counter to the good of the game. I kind of see a penalty as wavering first steps on a different worldview. I suppose Viccy's change is for the good of the campagne if the PC is good, so there may be no reason to penalize her. A penalty may be stronger if the PC sharply acts out of character, say, converting him from a paladin to a fallen paladin.
I havn't tried changing Viccy, my PCs respect and dig her as she is, especially given her history and overall attitude. Are there some dialogue shifts in the romance with the change?

Yes. There are a few slight changes in the dialogue trees that depend on alignment. It affects many of the dialogues, not just the romance dialogues. Anomen's alignment (Lawful Neutral, Lawful Good, or Chaotic Neutral) also affects his responses. In Sarevok's case, if he's Chaotic Good, there's an extra dialogue in which he thanks your character for helping him see the light, so to speak. There are at least a couple of dialogues that won't take place if Sarevok isn't Evil (he won't start an insulting conversation with Aerie or Jaheira). Most of the differences concern attitude, not substance. What it amounts to is, the NPCs are more likely to be kind and understanding if they're not Evil; if they're Evil, they are more likely to call other people "weak" or "foolish".
I'm not sure you know this, but your main character's alignment also affects your own visible dialogue options. For example, an Evil character might be given the option to say something like, "I enjoyed the destruction," while a Good character would be given the option to say, "I was terribly upset by all of that destruction." It makes sense, and I'm glad that there's some distinction between Good and Evil characters.

Very cool. The more I learn about the game the more I admire it, the alignment differences motivate role play, both from the NPC's point of view (as you illustrated before with eg. the Anomen alignment dialogue contrast
) and the PC's point of view. I've seen the evil vs. good PC effect while playing with Viccy, with the option to revel in the destruction of Yaga, for instance. I'll have to try the Viccy romance with the shift, as well with "helping" Sarevok. What a game...
