Horns of Solo Multiplayer Dilemma

So far I have been playing BG II Amn in the conventional manner. Manual says I can play a multiplayer game solo, creating up to six characters from scratch. Before I do a lot of work I need to know this....If I create all six (which is what I would prefer), will I get stuck dropping at least one of my characters to adopt NPCs into my party for access to quests?? For example....will I be able to do the Planar Sphere quest without Valygar?.....In advance for any help on this...thanks.... Myst

If you go the evil route, you can kill Valygar and use his body as the key to get into the sphere. Otherwise, if you play good or want to do NPC quests, you'll have to drop one of your party.

I only did this once, with just two characters, not a full party. I ended up dropping my half-orc berserker when I got to ToB for that new NPC. My berserker faded away and vanished, never to be found again. So if you want to pick up NPCs, don't bother creating a full party.

Creating a 'core' of about 4 characters is preferable because some of the NPCs are awesome to play with and necessary for some quests.

I recommend researching what the weaknesses of your party is, (or the strengths of the NPCs you want) and this makes the decision making easy.

You need only to export your character and then import him/her again later.
