anyone else having / have this problem?

in the movies between chapters the voice stutters / skips in places it's completely garbled. and while i can read along it's irratating. (the video still runs fine no flicker)

i've checked the cd it's clean as a whistle, went right from the box to my pc where it's sat for the last two weeks.

all the other dialogue i've heard from the game is clean (as one would expect)

anyone got any ideas?

i had the same problem. i thought i might be my sound card, but it was not. i ended up getting a new video card (went from a 32mb ATI to a 128MB Geforce). this took care of the problem. not to mention kicking the graphics up.

hrrm, i was looking for a slightly lower cost solution (read that - free), maybe i'll turn my movie graphics down a peg. at least gameplay is not impacted b/c that would be way too irratating.

I had the same problem. I upgraded my sound card from a Soundblaster PCI 128 to a Soundblaster Audigy and now the movies play fine...

BTW, I have a Geforce4 Ti 4200, so the problem certainly wasn't any lack of video power (at least for me).

Edit: Maybe it's a compatibility problem between your video and your sound card?

Yeah, I get the same problem between chapters. Here is a free solution:
1 - Grit your teeth,
2 - Read as fast as you can, and,
3 - Get back to killing stuff.

"Movies? Movieez? We dunt neeed no steekin' movies!"

--Kibblez (they are too short for popcorn anyway)

I experinced the same problem but there is a possible fix if you go into your NWN.ini file and change the following setting

Under

[Display Options]

SafeMovie=1 <---- change this to zero [<---- this is worng]

And they should play fine.

I got this from another NWN site and it supposed to affect Win98 and WinME users.

Good luck

Note: the SafeMovie option should be set to 1 to fix the stuttering problem.

I think Krimmy's right, you do have to enable the safemovie. However, it should be set by default to 0 (disabled) so you would probably have to enable the line by changing the 0 into 1:

SafeMovie=0 <---- change this to 1

I'm running WinXP, Radeon 7200 and SB Live! on my sys, so I couldn't tell you if this is what's wrong with the movies, conflict with sound cards, etc. but I did alter this value from 0 - 1 in my NWN.ini file almost immediately after I installed the game because the movies were stuttering pretty badly..haven't had a problem since.

Made a mistake, I checked the wrong computer. I fixed the stuttering problem on my other computer with Win98 by changing the setting to 1.

Sorry for the confusion.

No problem, man...You probably helped out a lot of folks who didn't even know this setting existed. Now they do and know how to fix it :)
