weird dual mage bug?

Just dualled fighter into a mage and found there were some scrolls he could not read, even though the other mages in the party could.

Thought perhaps it was treating the dualled mage as a specialist but the scrolls he can't read are not of the same school.

Perhaps second copies will solve this problem?

Anyone else come across this - have a clue what I'm talking about?

thx

What do you mean by "could not read"? Is it when you're trying to write it to your spell book or casting it from then scroll itself?

both, two scrolls comes up reddish (can't use item) but not for the other mages in the group,

the two spells are stoneskin and (I think) protection from magical energy.

I'll see if other copies of the spell can be copied.

EDIT: I have ToB, Acsension, the improved fights, the latest bio patch and the baldurdash fix pack all installed.

I experienced this one sometimes.
The scrolls were wrongly coloured as they were unusable, yet I could scribe and use them, so no problem in the end.
Is this maybe the case?

No I couldn't use them either as a quick spell or to scribe

HOWEVER...

After several reloads I got one where this did not happen, in particular the problem only seemed to arise when I reformed my party (so as to facilitate quicker levelling). Pretty damm weird I must say.

thx for your time.
