Game freezes every 5 mins

I'm having terrible difficulties playing the game now. At first it would only freeze like ever 2 hours but now it keeps freezing all the time. Also starting the game sometimes tilts my computer. It took me 15 minutes to complete a quest where I just had to speak to an NPC in the same map that I was in because it kept freezing and tilting at startup.

Any idea of what could have caused this sudden increase in freezing?

Does this only happen with NwN? or is it happening with other software too?

well it can be that your computer is just not up to the task of running NWN. Do you mind posting your computer specs, it would help in determining the problem.

This is a common problem many people have had with the game. The only thing that can be really recommended is to get the newest drivers (which didn't help me  ) or do an overhaul on your computer.

My computer is alot better than recommended. I noticed one thing. The freezes most likely happen when you talk to somebody but they can happen doing just about anything. Doing a scan disc often helps if the game keeps freezing alot. I have the newest drivers to about everything so that's not the problem either.

Actually, it may be your video card drivers. I had this exact same problem with my ATI Radeon 7200.

If you're using a Radeon, the newest catalyst drivers don't seem to work (e.g., they freeze the game) with NWN.

I downloaded the Omega Plutonium drivers, which are beta and based off the older version of the driver and it cleared everything up - game runs great and framerates are faster than with the newest catalyst drivers. Sorry, don't have the link, but if you're using a Radeon, that may be your problem :)

I have GF3 Ti200 so I don't think that's it. Anyway when I get a freeze, I just do a scan and there won't be another one in a while. If I don't do a scan, I can be sure the game freezes pretty quickly.

For me, after a while game starts bugging, ya know like sound files loop a little, camera freezes for second and jumps then to destination where I wanted my character to go. It´s really annoying during the sp, and worse during mp, and I do have GeForce 4 with latest drivers et al. I tried to solve it with using 800x600 resolution instead of higher, but it did not help for long.

Do you have athlon processor? Athlon+VIA chipset+GeForce combination always had some comparability problems.
Also, you could be having resource problem. i.e. having too many devices on the same irq.
You could try to move the devices (sound card, modem.. etc..) to different pci slots, and see what happens.

Yeah, Athlon it is, I´ll try and see what happens. But weird it still is, because all my other games work fine. :o
