I have a problem. I got hit with the missing key bug (I assume) since I can not open a door that requires it. And the Ancient dwarven chest is empty. Much frustration.

Reading about patch 1.4 downloading it, installing it. Much happiness. Game says version 1.4.3 so I assume it means that the patch is installed. Problem: The bloody key is still missing!Can't open the door, and the ancient dwarven chest is still empty.
Much puzzlement.

Does anyone have an idea what the problem is?

If you reach the area before appling the patch then the chest will most likely remain empty. If you are still at the Main Halls i suggest to restart the game, if you like.

However, this area that you access with the Ancient Rusted key has almost nothing of value and does not effects the main game, so is pretty much your choice.
