Yes, Rangers receive both the Ambidexterity and Two-Weapon fighting feats for free at first level. I have no idea why you are not receiving it. Is your Dexterity below 15?
What do you need the extra 3 points for? You need a wisdom of at least 11 so you can cast spells - and the Ranger class casts spells at 9th level and above. If you want, take those points from another ability - your intelligence, or your charisma. Watch how low you go with your intelligence score! If it's too low, you'll walk up to the priest of Tyr in the Temple saying: "Me hurt."
Be careful about how you adjust your stats - you only gain 1 stat point every 4 levels. This means you will only have a total of 5 stat points to spend in the game on your character (max. level in NWN is 20th).

Interesting, I didn't receive Ambedexterity either, and I started out with Dex 16.

Rangers get Dual Wielding which is in fact Ambidexterity + Two Weapon Fighting. This has nothing to do with your Dex. However, should you wear armor heavier than studded leather, you'll not be able to take advantage of Dual Wielding.
A Ranger will never be able to cast 9th level spells. What Chanak said is that you'll start gaining spells when advancing to 9th level and beyond.

@CE: A bug perhaps?
@Zu'l: No, your Ranger can
begin to cast spells when he reaches the 9th level of experience.

A wisdom of 11 enables you to cast 1st level spells, a 12 allows 2nd level spells, a 13 for 3rd level spells, and a 14 wisdom allows you to cast the highest level of spells available to the Ranger, which is 4th. Hope that answers it for you.

The whole thing is indeed a little confusing since ambidexterity and dual wield can still be chosen as feats when you level up (at least if your char is multiclassed, don't know about pure rangers). I wonder what would happen if you chose them, but probably nothing except getting around the armor restriction.
On level 9 rangers gain improved two weapon fighting, which adds an off hand attack.
Wisdom enables you to cast spells at high level, the question is if you want to have spells or if you eg chose to increase your strenght.

Hi @Astafas, didn't see your response in time.
I just noticed the Ambidexterity/2 Weapon fighting combo in one feat for my ranger myself. Heheh, I never bothered noticing that before.
@CE & Zu'l: Just look at your Ranger's feats, and click on the "Dual Wielding" feat to check it out. It's there, as Astafas notes.

Exactly. I don't vare about it since my ranger is an archer, but I noticed I could still choose Ambidexterity from the features when lvl:ing up. And I have only light armour.
So, does anyone know what happens if you actually choose Ambidex when you already have Dual wielding?

As somebody said, you will profit from that Feat even if wearing heavier than light armor....
I don´t expect any other changes....
Bytheway, my Ranger/Rogue got his first Spell when I reached Level 5 Ranger, Level 4 Rogue....?
Is this a bug?
So why didn´t I get a familiar on Levels 4/3

??

Yes it is a bug. Only ranger levels should count.
Actually, if that is true then it's pretty cool because you can take other classes besides ranger and still get all the spells.

No No No it is not a bug. Rangers begin gaining spells at 4th level, not 9th level. They began gaining spells at 9th level in 2nd edition, this is third edition and the rules have changed. At 4th level a ranger will gain a bonus spell of 1st level if his wisdom score is high enough and he will gain his first real spell slot at 5th if he has a wisdom of 11 or higher. And as for taking ambidexterity as a ranger, the only benefit you will gain from it is the ability to use the feat in medium or heavy armor.

Just COULDN´T look that up in the manual, but hey, we´re not on the official board, are we?
Somewhere I got this pdf-thingy... *kram*
But I supposed Rangers getting spells real early, as Paladins do...

@Mathurin: LOL! My brain still thinks 2E every now and then. Of course you are right.
I've never thought of using a feat point on Ambidexterity since the "Dual wielding" feat already incorporates it. No need. I'd rather spend that on something else.

Sorry I might seem like a smart-ass here, but Rangers get spells at 8th level in 2nd ed.; Paladins get them at 9th level (in 2nd ed.)

Hehe Dont worry, but then perhaps you should have quoted the person who made the original mistake, not the person who corrected them? We are all smart asses from time to time.

I, too, was under the impression that I could only use dual-wield with light armor yet I am able to equip and use my two-weapon combo while wearing medium scalemail.

Ehm, about the ambi Feat and wearing heavier armor - I found out that you CANNOT benefit from those feats, if you are wearing armor that 'disable' your ranger abilities - e.g. Medium armor onwards. I've only spotted this recently, when I was trying out a new medium armor (Dragon Armor) adn checking the stats - I normally dual wield, and I found that my attack roll bonuses went down by several points, from when I was wearing a light armor (Shadow Legion), It could be that the decreased dex bonuses (down from 6 to 4(?)) may have contributed to this too, but I doubt it.
Btw, IMHO as a ranger one should have relatively high dex, compared to str - and in that case, it's better to wear a Light armor that allows higher dex bonuses, rather than heavier armor that grant higher AC bonuses. It seems your AC maybe lower at first with a light armor, but as your dex piles up (from items and such), you'll find that both your AC and various roll bonuses will stack to your advantage. If you want to wear Medium Armor+, then you should be playing a fighter type.
