Sola mod

Does the Sola mod work with SK, the Baldurdash XP cap remover or Bun Bun?
Also, do you HAFF to play with the improvements (like the tougher Irenicus), or are they optional?

No problem, AFAIK, not sure about bun bun though.
(but it's only a character, I see no reason for possible conflicts...)

You can choose which components to install, don't worry, just run
the exe ;)

Hear, hear!!!

Improved Mind Flayers? Ran into a couple of them, didn't bug me too much.

Try to rescue Imoen early? *%#^%(*!!!

What kind of sadist could put together a villian like Improved Bodhi? I did the Trademeet quest to pick up Tashia, did a couple of small quests, then tried to head to Chapter 3. After about 10 reloads (and not the type where you almost got it. No, this was the not even frickin' close to getting to "injured" type of reload), I finally "defeated" her. Still not sure how. It was one of those kinds where everyone but the PC is dead, you whip out the Rod of Resurrection and bring back Minsc, flee for your life with an unarmored Minsc chopping at the pursuing killer's back with the mace of disruption, and somehow Bodhi's suddenly down, and your finger darts with unreal speed and precision for the quicksave button. (Lucky thing. In resurrecting everybody, I put the Celestial Fury (which none of my party had proficiencies for) in somebody's weapon slot, then walked out of the crypts. What the - ?!?! Reload. Unequip Celestial Fury.

And since when are liches so chummy with other undead?

Have fun!!! :D :D :D

No, these improved fights are a lot of fun, really! I hardly cursed at all.... well, a little bit, maybe... OK, a lot...

Hey, that's what we wanted, right? A change of pace? :)

You can always install all the improved fights, then uninstall and reinstall without them fairly easily if you find them annoying rather than fun.

(I've considered it a couple times... :D )

I'm afraid I have to insist: have you tried Improved Bodhi?
I can hardly see any fun in this fight! It's sooooo difficult. She is a real b#$@#!

sure seems everyone wants bun bun ver 4!!!

ok, guys, bun bun version 3 was specifiaclly created to handle sola...

ok, i actually did run bun bun on sola, one of the older versions, and only just managed to survive, with tashias help, EEEKKK...

improved bodhi is just a matter of using bun bun to keep sola and bodi occupied until their scroll casted spell immunities stack wears off, like kurisan, USE ring of ram, with gem case exploit to pound them hard with ring, the only thing i know of that will punch thru the stacked spell immunites, and protect your party anf when their immunites wear off, bun bun on full whirlwind will slice them up...

improved flayers??hahahahahahah!!!!

bun bun ver3 has 17!!! g deathblows, and comes with frag grenade in inventory, just use mislead to go in, then cast g deathblow, and fire one frag grenade, will kill 90% of all mindflayres, and the immune ones, you do have helm of charm and ring of free action, right???

will release ver 4 soon, as this one i want to generate without xp cap remover, and this one, kiddies, will be seriously overpowered....

inquisitor immunites, or berserker enrage abilites...

maybe a few cleric spells, hmmm....

waiting to get rowan or chloe, and then rebuild my os...

Well, my "improved fights are a lot of fun, really!" statement was a bit sarcastic, I'm afraid.

Annoyance was definitely the predominant factor when I first encountered the new Bohdi. She was just so ridiculously more powerful than my party I was getting flashbacks to when I tried to attack Irenicus without first freeing the inmates. I think these "improved" villians were created with every cheese known to the worldwide BGII community in mind, so you're forced to use every trick in the book just to have a chance. I mean, come on, my 10th-11th level characters are supposed to have a chance against: permanent blue fire shield, super regeneration, high AC, 5 levels drained per hit, buried alive, bat plague, touch of death (or whatever those waggling fingers were), and, finally, a brutal melee attack that mocks all the neg. plane prot., prot. from evil, free action, cold resistance, and other assorted buffs? Oh, and the helmed horrors thrown in for good measure.

Adversaries like that aren't a lot of fun, because 1) they cause a lot of reloads and frustration and 2) when you finally win, you feel you basically lucked out and skill had nothing to do with it.

On the other hand, after playing the game completely through a couple of times, something new is nice. Plus, you can then say you did it. (But I was serious about my seriously considering to uninstall the improved fights. Pride, however, won out. :) )

I'm afraid I don't have the book, and I don't intend to buy it. I'd say I'm rather a player by experience. Honestly. SoA was my first RPG game ever, and I learn how it works by playing through. Okay, I read also the manual, but it didn't offer any substancial help for going over such difficulties.

All in all, I think you are right. I fully agree with you. Pride has been what prevented me from unistalling Improved B***h! :)

i think wes did a really good job, actually, he anticipated just about every cheese i used in my first few run thrus....

being a cheese meister, he really anticipated all my really cheesy moves, and had counters for every one...

heck, about 10% or more of teh "classic" cheese moves are my invention, really...giggle...

so i really enjoyed the improved bodhi, i really felt like strangling him when i finally figured out the stacked spell immunites...

oh yeah, ruby ray dont work worth a damn, unlike what the doc says...ring of ram is the only way...

or summon cow...

but for even more fun, try eclipse!!!!!

that one, not even bun bun could keep party alive...totally anticipated all my classic moves, including the evil chain inc cloud, my ultimate kill joy attack, and stacked dragon breaths....

i never got to try out my best move yet, chain summon devas, as i just then got morrowind...

but really, to provide a challenge for everyone, wes had to counter the evil cheesers like me....

Oh, so we have you to thank for the Improveds, @User? Thanks a lot! :p ;) :D

@ Aubrey

every trick in the book - (american?) figure of speech, as in: "The Patriots are a three touchdown underdog to the Rams tonight. They'll have to open it up and use every trick in the book if they expect to pull out a win." ;) Someone could probably go through the archives of this forum and write the "Definitive Guide to Baldur's Gate Cheese" though. (Unless, of course, UserUnfriendly already has the copyright... ;) )

that would be a truely herculian task...

but might include a abbreviated copy in docs for bun bun ver 4, before i start on the alpha, beta, gamma bun buns....

bun bun alpha will be hacked via near infinity!!!!

i think i can preserve the changes via editing the gam files only, but really, sk is just so fun stretching the game engine...ver 4 will be

kensai, sorc, hive mother beholder, deathbringer, assassin,

(choose here)

inquisitor, chavalier and undead hunter, or berserker but seriously, folks, its not my fault!!!!

sola cheats too...have you seen the moonblade???

call it overpowered...

of course, i am guilty, SORRY!!! for wes changing it so if you give moonblade to anyone but not sola, teh godess takes it away...

he saw my posts about giving it to bun bun, who has use any item, and he got a bit huffy and changed the scripting so she appears and takes it away if you give to anyone else... :D

Actually, in my game, Solaufein got the Moonray, and a lot of extra spells. :) Far more practical, and as for weapons... well, I suppose there are some better than Moonblade in ToB. Wouldn't you agree?

@Aubrey: Moonray??? Is it the moonblade you get in Suldanessellar (sp?) he can use? What does it do?
