Has anybody tried this?

Make a PC cleric/mage who is not the primary character. Have a contingency for death (or 10% health; rarely will you get down to below 10% without dieing outright), that ressurects you...
Does that work?

I dunno what you mean?
The game is over if your main character died. You won't have the chance to resurrect.

Hmm.. sounds interesting. One of the more annoying features of the resurection spell is the fact that it doesn't heal straight away, there is a pause, which leaves you on 1 HP. This has killed my characters on several occasions. I'd imagine it wouldn't work tho, for if no-body is alive to cast it, then surely nothing can happen, but even so, it would be interesting giving it a go.

now that would be a cheese if it worked lol i mean if youre dead you shouldn't be able to resurrect yourself after death but lol if it works that would be SWEET! but problem it won't work for the main character and i'm always soloing

cause onice ure dead game's over even if you resurrect yourself which suxs, cause it would be soo funny if you suddenly rose from the dead and wreacked havoac on the enemy just when they thought u was dead

Enemies always have contingencies going off after their deaths so why not try a chain contingency with ressurection, stoneskin and protection from magical weapons. Cool idea, have to try this.

It is a very good idea, Cross. But there's just one thing about it.
You have to use the chain contingency for it, as ressurection is a level 7 spell, which means no supreme 3*Abi Dalzim or whatever you wish to put in there for offense.
And as rods of ressurection is rather common (I think there are 3 in the game with ToB) it's somewhat redundant as everybody can use those rods. So if your cleric/mage dies, you can have you fighter or whoever to raise him/her.
But try it - it sure sounds interesting.

I just tried it. It does work but not always. You have to set your condition to either hitpoints at 10 or 25% and then hope that your character doesn't go from more than 25% hp to death because then nothing happens. So it doesnät help you when someone fingers you to death for example, or a vorpal hit. And when you are resurrected you have no items which can be a pain in the heat of things.
Still it was pretty cool to see the message Aerie death and then see he come back to life without anyone having done anything.

I'd think survival would be easier if you just blow that Chain Contingency on the corny tripple Horrid Wilting. That way, your enemies might not live to make you die.

It would be interesting to do a Contingency 'Ressurection' on some of the enemy mages. I will experiment some with this.
