Dual-classing Sarevok?

I've just started my third time playing ToB and Are just going to Saradush... And i'm thinking of dual-classing Sarevok to thief just for the "Use all ability", Sarevok with Carsomyr...nightmare!

My party consists of Me, Fighter/Thief multiclass

Anomen, Aerie, Keldorn, Imoen and Sarevok.

Any other ideas or opinions if i should dualclass Sarevok or not?

No way. Especially since your party is already well-balanced without any extra abilities that Sarevok could get.

No, keep him a pure fighter. Especially since Carsomyr is a natural fit for Keldorn, who you still have. The ability for Sarevok to wield Carsomyr is not worth giving up his future Greater Whirlwinds, Power Attack, Critical Hit, Smite, etc. for.

And call me old-fashioned, but I am totally against the idea of any character but a Paladin wielding any holy sword.

As @Impaler said. With Keldorn in your party, the paladin's natural benefits merge perfectly with Cassomyr. Give some other badass weapon with other effects to Saverok. It's not like you'll be lacking them in ToB. ;)

Mmm...maybe your'e right!

But i'm thinking of replacing Keldorn with Valygar...just fo the dual wielding style...or maybe With Haer-Dalis?

You didn't already set your fighter/thief up for dual-wielding?

Actually, I'd start working Keldorn's dual-wielding slots some, if it's not too late. With Purifier (holy bastard sword) dual-wielded with Foebane (bastard sword) or Angurvadal (long sword), you're never gonna want to go back to Carsomyr.

*****SPOILERS******

Sarevok comes maxed in 2 handed swords, and 2 handed style, so it seems natural to keep him in this style of fighting. I started him with the Silver Sword everytime I took him, and was pleased with the results(2 hits to take down Gromnir and FireGiants are a breeze)
I have gotten 5 * in halberds and in Staves. These are the only other two categories of 2 handed weapons I found to be good for him. With the ravager +6 or the staff of ram +6 he is a total badass.
Dualing him can be frustrating because he will only become really powerful towards the middle of ToB and by then its not fun to havbe a character just begin to pull his/her weight. I would recommend keeping him a pure fighter and get ALL GREATER WHIRLWINDS!!!! yes thats right, he ended up with 11 or 12 of them and I dont regret giving him that many.

Keldorn!

Throw out Keldorn for the extra xp, dual sarevok, give him Carsomyr.

Perfect Party!

I duel class sarevok with an evil party all time... Reason?

Go through watchers keep in soa, get Viconia a holy symbol, take Keldorn into your party and wait till they step out to fight, let Viconia kill him

She gets two holy symbols for this (Maybe fixed in patch?)

Carry em both with you till sarevok gets uai, then give em to him along with firegiant strength belt for 24 strength, take staffs to ***** and backstabb like youve never done before...

Possible deathbringer critical backstabb, for complete uber doom dmg that I darenot calculate

Btw, jan can do the same thing.. He just cant deathbringer assoult

On the dualing Sarevok subject, duel him to a mage.. He makes a cool mage

Dual classing sarevok is nice in theory but annoying in practice. It takes a long time to get back his fighter skills and then even longer to be able to use carsomyr. That's the only way I have ever gone with him in my party and I just don't think it makes any sense to make him a mage. For evil mages edwin is far far better than sarevok could ever dream of being, tesner's would be nice later but it would be so much later that I don't know if you would see it.

No need to dual class to give Sarevok, just transform Carsomyer into Soul Reaver+6

Minsc: In order to backstab you must use a weapon a pure thief without the Use Any Item ability can wield. (dagger, shortsword, longsword, quaterstaff ect.)

The first time I got Sarevok in my party I actually dualled him to a mage. It took a long time, yes, but considering I hadn't done WK at that point, he was up to level pretty fast. But again, having to pamper him (i.e. keep him out of battle) until he regains levels is very annoying.

An improved hasted/tensored/misled Sarevok though with all the protections is admittedly nice by the end, but nothing that, say, Sola cannot give you being a multi at that and getting both classes HLAs, much earlier.

If you are playing a (part) mage PC, though, dualling Sarevok to mage could make sense from a roleplaying PoV. After all, you are taking him in your party, forgiving him and giving him a clean start, and perhaps taking him under your tutelage... ;)
