In icewind dale II is there going to be sub classes like bg 2 (eg. kensai) or is it going to be more like neverwinter nights........ and another thing, they aren't going to have the crappy point-buy system of neverwinter nights ability section are they??

As far as I know - there are no sub-classes. Although there are different types of gods to follow if you are a cleric.
And yes there will be point buy - base of 10 and 16 points to distribute - with no scaling - 17 to 18 costs the same as 10 to 11.
Hope this helps.
(BTW - no 100% sure about clerics and their gods)

This is such a basic question that I can only recommend you visit the BIS website, where they list all the sub-classes (and there are many) and discuss 'em in great detail. Try
here, and search as well through the other forums on "sub-classes."

I don't know if clerical domains and monk and paladin orders are the same as sub-classes. But in any case the aforementioned classes are the only ones with "sub-classes."
There are on the other hand lots of sub-races.

Well, but in that case, how do we define sub-classes? I take a pragmatic view: if you click on a class and it brings up another list to select from, those professions are sub-classes.
Using this system, clerics have 9, monks have 3, paladins have 3, and wizards have 9. The biggest difference lies in the cleric's sub-classes.
