Sounds really interesting.

I am therefore left wanting for information. Would you be willing to, ehm,
expand on this a little?
Like, are you referring to Nahal's Reckless Dweomer?
And do you mean to dual a Wild Mage to another class? If so, which class would be able to use the Dweomer? How does this work?

Like the man said, this needs an explanation.
Please.

Say WM/Fighter The wild mage duels at lvl 2 and the fight whatever, now the Wild mage HAS to have Nahals Wreckless Dwemor if he learns a spell

eath spell, he can cast it with Nahal Wreckless Dwemor, Because he has It learnt it does not have to be Memorised!

Cool. But how often do you end casting what you intended to cast?

Very nice suggestion, Craig! I'll have to try that. I take it the WM/F has to read a lot of scrolls to be able to use this?

Always, unless a Wild Surge gives you another effect (which is rare). Don't forget to QuickSave often, though.

Just a stinking second here....
does this mean what I think it means? do you NOT have to dual to second class at a level to cast the level spell you have read the scroll on?????
so you have dualed at level 7, enough for nrw and some chaoes shields, just in case, and you get a shape change scroll. now you cannot cast level nine spells, but you can read the scroll and put in your spell book...
you cast nrd and you cast shapechange!!!!!
My god, the cheese!!!!
This is now the ultimate class above all others!!!
to maximize, however, you want to dual at level high enough to cast chain contingency and some level 8 and lower spells, becasue the cheesy chain cont is what makes mage duals so evil...
my god, the possibilities... are chains and contingencies affected by wild surges? You would not think so, cause of chains ans such workin gin wild magic rooms....question, how often does a wild surge turn bad? will remove curse counter most bad effects?
Go up high enough to get quest spells, then dual to thief, which has a very nice level gradient, very steep, then dual wield scarlet ninja to and kundane for long duration whirlwind...
or dual to fighter for ravager and other kick ass weps..
or dual to cleric for more spells and a SAFE pool, too, for the ultimate in spell casters...

Hey guy, craig has done it...found the truely mythical and until now, I did not think possible character...the sorceror/fighter class!!!!!
the superb perk of the sorc is ability to cast any spell in battle, so if you need one more abu dahzim to finish off the dragon, the regular mage must use soemthing he has memorized instead...like maybe all that is left is glitterdust?
SOL, buddy.
but the wild mage dual is the sorc....cause you have your regular memorized spells, and a whole rack of lv 1 nrd in all your level 1 slots, and when you run out of memorized spells, also the chain and trigger pools prebattle, you cast nrd and you have the exact spell you need!!!
need one last timestop facing a dragon? nrd and go for greater whirlwind with ravager!!! need to summon up more skellys but out of spells? nrd!
Just how often do you get wild surges? How often do you have problems with surges?
I save before major battles anyway, never use quick save, always archive, so this is not an issue...

Just one problem perhaps. Spells that have a duration or damage depending on level are many. What level will you count as? Horrid Wilting is not as effective if you are a level 6 mage.

Very interesting...
If you dual at level 2, you can still get good Hit Points.
While it's true many spells depend on your caster level, a lot of them don't. Time Stop, Shapechange, Imprisonment, Maze, Limited Wish, Finger of Death, Tenser's (healing), Protection from Magical Weapons, Invisible Stalker, Breach, Strength, Glitterdust, Identify, Spirit Armor and Find Familiar will still be extremely useful.
It's almost like some alternative Fighter Kit. Instead of some hit & damage bonuses, you can cast the ultra-cheesy Nahal's Reckless Dweomer.

NRD has almost no chance of casting the correct spell unless you are on a very high level. If I understand the spell description correctly, then it works by making a random dice roll (not sure whatDwhat it is) and then adds your level. This somehow determines if your spell casts correctly or not. But if you really wanted, you could use Ctrl + H to set the wild surge effect to 100 (I think), meaning that all spells will cast normally. I believe this would work for nrd too.

2nd Level Wild Mage has a 9% chance of casting a spell succesfully using NRD (if I interpreted the Wild Surge Table in the manual correctly). Chaos Shield adds 15% to that. For reference, a capped (LVL31) wild mage using both normal and improved Chaos Shield (assuming they stack) has a 76% chance of an NRD spell working (71% chance of scoring a 100 to double the spell effect). Now that's power

I tried with a capped Wild Mage, and even without any Chaos Shield he would always cast the right spell, unless there was a specific Wild Surge that prevented it.
It would be highly statistically improbable that I just had that lucky 31% each time.
Some spells never seem to Surge. Identify and Find Familliar are always "cast normally".
Several Wild Surge effects are incredibly beneficial to warrior mages specifically. There's one that adds a few points of Strength, and another one doubles your Hit Points.

Incorrect
Unfortunately, in BG2, it is impossible to Dual-Class any type of specialist mage, including Wild Mages. Would be awesome if it were possible, though.
