Ability score cap?

Is there an ability score cap in NWN? I've noticed that my fighter's strength should be at 29, but it's at 28. When I switched my +5 strength belt for a +4 strength belt, it stayed at 28 so it's not just a miscalculation on my part.

no, you can have more than 28 strength, my barbarian will have around 40 str by level 20.

My halfling r/r stopped at dex 29. Since halflings have a racial bonus on dex I think 28 could be the limit.

While playing around with a hex editor I found that I could hack the strength to over 200 and get all the to hit and damage bonuses, but my half-orc paladin would then have a carrying capacity of 0 lbs.
The carrying capacity increased as the strength increased up to 47 (49 after the racial bonus, or 0x2f), but anything over that it began decreasing. So there was some kind of limitation there, but not sure how it applies to dex....

Dunno if this helps your calculations or not, but bonuses from items cap at +10 (eg. a belt +5, gloves +2, amulet +4 = +10...not +11 to the primary stat).

Yeah, I finally realized that all abilities are capped at +10 from items. That's cool I guess. Thanks anyway.

All racial bonuses in the 3rd edition rules are +2/-2.
