Favorite/Most Memorable Music Videos

Well I had a conversation with my brother yesterday about some of the music videos of the last 20 years. You can make a list of multiple videos you liked or those that are memorable, or even videos you absolutely hated. It doesnt matter to me. :D

I think a couple of notable videos that Ive seen are:
"The Saint" by Orbital (It had 2 people with removable heads-which was freaky enough as it was, but it went beyond that in the video, too-very cool and strange)

"Safety Dance" by Men Without hats (What in the world was that video/song about? :D )

"True Faith" by New Order (A strange video with a bunch of people doing metaphorical dances that I still have yet to figure out)

"Sledgehammer" by Peter Gabriel (Classic! A clay-mation masterpeice  )

Videos I hated:
"Jump" by Van Halen (I HATED this video! People said it was great-but it was AWFUL! It was just Van Halen posing in front of a camera, there was NOTHING I got out of the video)

"Hold Me Now" by Thompson Twins (A great song but an awful video. Dont know what the point was-3 band members playing music in a blue room, a couple close-ups and a lot of long shots showing the band play and that was it)

What does everyone think?

Some of my favourite music videos of all time:

"Doin' It All For My Baby" by Huey Lewis and the News
Say what you will about Huey Lewis, but their videos were great. "Doin' It All" was the one where Huey was underneath the band's van trying to fix something when a jackstand collapsed and he was killed. Fast forward to a Frankensteinish castle where the music started. Lots of sight gags and tongue-in-cheek humour. Their music may not have been great, but they were one of the first bands to use MTV in a way that was self-effacing and not too arty or too serious.

"Girls, Girls, Girls" by Motley Crue
I think I was 11 when this video came out. I was 18 when it ended.

"Rio" by Duran Duran
Was there anything cooler in the 80s than British guys on a boat with some nearly-naked chick running around? I think not.

"Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi
These guys were the epitome of cool and the black and white format of the video rocked.

"Take on Me" by Ah-ha
The cartoon-to-real life animation was amazing even if the song wasn't.

Damn; all of these are from the 80s . . . I guess I'm showing my age. But that was when MTV was still showing videos (that's the entire video . . . and without that little box in the corner where some pre-pubescent kid tells you why she loves the video that's running).

Mine are all from the 80's too. :D -Except for "The Saint" which was a 1997 or 1998 video
Those are some good choices, HLD. Ive never seen "Girls, Girls, Girls" nor have I seen "Doin it All For Me Baby"

Rio and Take on Me are another couple of videos I liked.

Going along with the Duran Duran Videos:
"All She Wants Is"-Now this was a strange video between cartoon sketches and real life-sort of like A-ha's Take On Me, but yet it wasnt quite like it.

And Duran Duran's song "A View To a Kill" I loved watching this when I was 6 or 7 years old. It was quite comical to see Simon Le Bon play a James Bond character and the other members play the criminals. :D

Im sure Ill think of more as time goes on.... :D

Well I am mainly after what people like for videos. But are there any you particularly hate/dislike?

There are many...

Outside by George Michael, that was so classy after he had been arrested chasing men at a public toilet. :D

Smack my b**ch up by Prodigy. Used to be neighbour with the guy who directed the video, he asked Madonna to s**t her pants when she rang him and wanted him to direct a video for her as well. :D He hung up 3 times at her because he thought it was some of his friends kidding him, so eventually her agent had to make the phone call :D

The one by Radiohead that ends with everybody lying on the street is good, I don't remember the name of the song, Kam or Frogus probably knows.

Bachelorette by Björk.

Give it away now by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

"Lean on Me," by A-ha, really had some great integration between film footage and animation. The song, too, was damn catchy.

Also good are any videos featuring women in spandex jeans. :)

...In adition of those you all mentioned above...

If you consider The Wall, the movie, as a Music video; than i think it is the best. The Wall- Pink Floyd

Jeremy-Pearl Jam.(Disturbing)

Imagine-John Lennon( I love that house)

Skid row- Wasted Time.

Guns n' Roses- November Rain(Slash in front of the church).

REM-It's the end of the world as we know it.

O Rappa-"Any clip"(probably you don't know this band because it's not world famous, but the videoclips are excellent).

Why would you say that, I wonder? :p

The video is for "Just", and as well as having some good scenes and stuff, there is the age-old mystery of what the guy actually says at the end...most of the conversation during the video is subtitled, but at the very end he says something, and no-one knows what it is. Radiohead have said they're never gonna tell anyone, so there :D

Aaah...I was gonna say Just as well   :D . Yeah, it is a classic. I have a sneaking suspicion that what the guy says is 'The pavement's soft and warm!'

@Kam, have you got 7 Television Commercials? The video to Street Spirit was quite cool too, and Karma Police is really excellent  For anyone who doesn't know, it is filmed from the eye-view of someone sitting in a big red and white cadillac. The person looks around mechanically, scrolling from side to side, but we never see their face....it's the middle of the night, but the car has it's headlights on, and is driving slowly (there is no driver) up a road which never really seems to end. There is a man infront of the car, running away desperately, but infuriatingly slowly. He is stumbling and clumsy, evidently having been running for a very long time, up this road, in the dark, slowly, never stopping, chased by the cadillac with no driver and only one invisable person inside...Eventually, he stops and falls, having run out of energy completely...then he has one idea, and gets to his feet again, standing still in the cars headlights. He fumbles behind his back with a book of matches, hands shaking, in fear, and then lights one, and drops it into a line of petrol which has leaked along the middle of the road. The cadillac just rolls off backwards again, exactly the same creepy slow pace, backwards, mechanically back down the middle of the road, with the man still standing still getting further and further away. The video ends as the car is engulfed in flames.

And the video to I Might Be Wrong is rather sinister too...

Apart from radiohead, I really liked the video to Soulwax's Too Many DJs, and yes @CE the 'Outside' video was very funny, as was Freeeeek, or whatever it was called  :)

Jaesha, please refer to #9 of the Gamebanshee Forum Rules:
#9 - Please refrain from mentioning the name of the Scottish band 'Travis'. It is taken as impolite in all online communities, and often causes Frogus extreme offense.

Argh! Now I've got that bloody song in my head! :D I think it is quite a cool video though, it is the one with what's-his-name the Scot doing press-ups in a precinct right?

EDIT: LOL frogus :D

@frogus, no I don't have 7 TV Commercials, or even MPIE (: eek: ), but this thread has awoken my interest, and I just happen to have a certain Amazon page open :p
