I know this might sound dumb but what does spell trap do? The only description i can get out of the game is that it "traps" spells.....what does that mean? How useful is spell trap besides encircling yourself with a cool orb? Any help would be much appreciated.

Spell Trap absorbs spells cast directly at the character using the spell. When it absorbs the spell, the character gets back one or more memorised spells that have been previously cast. I think the recovered spells start at the lowest level and more upwards, so you'd get 1st level spells back first.

It only absorbed spells cast directly at you, such as flame arrow and magic missle

It gives you one spell back. Keep in mind it doesnt protect against area effect spells (Which are the most commonly cast enemy spells) but is very handy for all those fingers of death and power words enemy mages have a sick habit of chucking around
