In my opinion IWD has the coolest items. Not necessarily history wise. Maybe what I should say is overpowered items. Of note are the repeating heavy crossbow and longbow +4: hammer. Do people agree with me on this one? The downside is that some of them are random so after two times through I gave up on finding some of them and used dale keeper (it's so sad).

Another question is does anybody know how to add a few choice to the bonus merchant in SoA. I just wish I could get some of these in there. Repeating heavy crossbow and case of plenty +2. Ahh it would be a wonderful thing. Do I need to extract all the item pics to transfer it. And then how do I add it to a store.

IWD does have powerful items - but then so does BG2.

My favourite HoW item is the vexed armour. Niiiiiiice.

Yes IWD has many cool items, and with HoW it gets even better.
The coolest thing is that most of the great items do not unbalance the game and if they do you then is because they are needed in the HoF mode.
And the most appropriate item IMO for a Paladin is in IWD, the Pale Justice!
