i'm not sure if this is the forum to post this question but i've been browsing the messages here and thought this was a good place to start. (plz refer me on to the appropriate forum if i'm mistaken)
back to the question ... i've downloaded SK and tried to modify NPC character classes. But it doesn't come through in the game. How do i modify NPC classes on SK ?
this way, i guess i get to play a slightly different game but still keep the character interactions.
BTW this board rules !

I have done it many times and never had a problem, Cybercat. The interactions should stay intact.
I don't understand why it didn't work for you. Take a saved game and just change class with shadowkeeper. Make sure the class is compatible with the race. If need be, change the race.
I have found that the best way to go about it is to set the new class to 1 and experience to 0. Then I use CLUAConsole to give them the Experience they had before the change (and level them up). Don't forget to adjust the weapon-proficiencies to the type of weapons they can use in the new class and to the number of profiences they should have in the new class.
EDIT: I also adjust the HP's to the level they would have in the new class.

@cybercat: did you remember to save the changes to a save file before exiting SK?
If you just close the window without saving, all the changes you made are obviously lost!
(Hope it helps, we're just trying to guess what the problem could be!)

I do the same thing that Ambiorix does (make the character 1st level with 0 experience points), but I go one step further. I also make a "dummy" character to use as a model. For example, if I want to turn a Fighter into a Swashbuckler, I roll up a Swashbuckler and export that character. After I change the Fighter to a Swashbuckler, I compare him to the Swashbuckler I exported to make sure that all the "Affects", proficiencies, hit points, thieving skills, and everything else are the same. This ensures that the character is exactly the same as he would be if you had made him a Swashbuckler when you first rolled him up.

I agree, Von Dondu, but I think there are some things, like THACO and saving rolls which are automatically adjusted to the new class.

I've only really used the shadow keeper to help undo a mistake of mine for my path of evil I made my swashbuckler a sorceror temporary (without any stat changes) in order to work for Bodhi.
well gee I'm almost ready to leave into chapter 4 now in that game... right after I finish my NPC tormenting....currently up to working on Edwin and Korgan, plus Anomen and Keldorn for their family quest... oh yes and I'll ruin Jan's life farther to before I destroy him in a duel (just like I did to 8 NPC's so far after I ruined their life some way... well most of them)

whoa, must have missed this one...what class did you try?
excpet for blatantly impossible ones, like monk cleric dual or multi, (excepting changing the character types) just about all npcs can be edited for fun...
aerie is usually cleric of lathan mage...\
jahiera is usually totemic druid fighter....
minsc? archer, of course...down load the items pack, and minsc, the big oaf, can wear lincoln green....improved aegirs hide...

For the record, you can override race restrictions using SK. I've made a few elven mage/cleric duals etc and they all work fine once you change the character avatar to the right race/class.
