help!! can't save or rest

help! i've just done the underdark section, did all of phaere's quests, slept with her, and it came to the bit where i had to swithch the dragon eggs, did that , killed the demon, phaere, matron mother, legged it lo the gate, fighting along the way,got out, and i can't save or rest. the only way i managed to save is by leaving a party-required area, and autosaving. this happened to me once before, when i did de'arnisse keep, and when you put the meat stew in the cave, the umber hulks come through, and you shut the door on them. i couldn't save after i did that either, but i can't remember how i solved it!!

any help would be appreciated

you sacrificed the eggs.....I see that your doing the fun evil path... you'll have to destroy the demon, use protection from evil and slay the demon to pieces with your fighters. he is a hard one but he's not unstopable. the demon HAS to die before the door are unlocked (or maybe it was Matron Mother) either way after that you'll

have a fun fight against the silver dragon for doing the evil path. it's fun hearing her say "you have returned when my eggs have been destroyed, I sensed their deaths, all that partook in this act shall pay but your failure makes you the first." after you beat her then go and go to the "kuo tan" lair and make your way to the gate there. it will now be open that is the way out of the underdark.
use spells like pierce magic and pierce shield to bring down the silver dragon and use every spell that's needed, if you have to have injured party members run back to use potions.

do you have ToB installed? If not, do you have the newest patch? if so, do you have the newest patch?

@Jaxaxe, have you tried leaving an area then restarting your pc and loading the autosave?

I would also clear out the cache/data file too, and ensure you have the latest patch...

its ok, it works now (btw, i interrupted phaere, so i gave the silver dragon eggs to the silver dragon (i'm not actually doing the evil path.)
