I can't figure out how to cast doom from sword. Tried everything and can't find it in my manual. Please help. Thanks.

First you have to equip the weapon, not just in the quickslot, but in the character's hand.

Then, select that character.

Left-click on the equipment button.

All of the spells/special abilities of your equipment should show up. Click on the doom button and then select a target to cast the spell on.

Maybe I missing something??

you said left click on equipment button. WHich is that, I don't see an equipment button, I have tried everything else! Help.

I think it's in the shape of a backpack; I'm at work right now, but as soon as I get home I'll check on it for you.

even clicking on use item and I can't get sword to work. Can't get collar I got for 1 of characters to work either. Supposed to cast beast something once per day. I'd really appreciate the help. Thanks!

You need to use the "Use Item" button which should be on the default action bar for all of your characters. Run your mouse over each button and wait for the tool tip to come up. When you get to the Use Item button, left click on it and it should show you all of the spells/special abilities that the items you currently have equipped enable you to use.

I just put the item in my character's weapon hand. He used it, and the thing cast Doom.

Finally got it to work! I wish the manual did a better job of explaining the basics.
