I'm at Horde Fortress, and keep coming across the guys with the alarm drums. Does it matter if they sound the alarm? They attack me anyway, so I wasn't sure.
Do I get more experience if I stop them first?
I managed it once, but it's pretty hard to stop the guy before he gets there.

Can anyone tell me if I should bother doing it over and over to stop the guy?

You should kill the guys beating the drums and the drums themselves (I think I got 400 exp for killing the drums, although some don't give XP). If an orc starts beating the drum the game will randomly spawn warg riders near your party. If this is an easy fight for you soak up some XP. I personaly found if there were to many drums going I would be overun by warg riders.

Okay, so I kill the guys and the drums, but I don't necessarily have to get them before they beat the drums... is that it?

It makes the fight a lot easier if you kill the drums first. They spawn worg fighters really quick.
