Ranger?

Hmmm, I just started IWD II and it is looking promising. However, I have heard the Ranger is weak. My main character (I know there really isnt a MAIN character but hes the one I use for roleplaying and such and is at the front of the formations so he does all the dialogue and stuff) is a Ranger. Any advice on what I should do with him? I am willing to multiclass and such. I have played NWN and all the BG games but in IWD 2 I am still trying to learn all the feats and stuff and if they the same to NWN. I played Ranger in NWN and he didn't seem weak so if someone could give me a comparison to the NWN ranger to the IWD 2 ranger I would have a good idea of what the class is like. Thanks in advance.

If you've just started him (ie, one level), turn him into a rogue, or a warrior, or a barbarian. Rangers simply aren't worth it in IWD2. Everything that's good about a ranger comes automatically in the first level. :)

...like ambidexterity and such...

switching to a rogue will be a great option. As a rogue, you'll probably continue to wear light armor which will allow you to capitalize on the ambidex/two weapon fighting bonus feats for ranger. Add weapon finesse and dual with short sword or dagger combos. It's quite effective.

It's interesting that the same problem exists in NWN. Rangers just aren't worth the trouble. Is it the same way in the pen and paper game?
