Trouble with my solo mage...

Hi! I'm soloing a mage through bg1 + totsc, and I have a problem. I am in the cloakwood, and am 9th level. Unfortunately, my experience doesn't seem to go beyond 161,000. I thought the cap was 250,000?
I am new to this game, so I dunno if it's supposed to be like this. Maybe it's doing it because I used a tiny cheat? I gave myself a stack of 9999 normal darts so I wouldn't have to make trips to a shop every 5 minutes, but that's it.
Please help!
Thanks!

Nope, the cap for TotSC is 161,000. You can use a XP cap remover, available
here. You may also want to download one of the rules packs.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I saw the mage xp table in the totsc manual, and it listed up to 10th level (250,000xp), so I thought that was the cap. Well I'm relieved that it's not a bug (I HATE bugs).
I don't want to use a cap remover as I want to complete the game without cheating (well except for the darts thing

)
Thanks again.

Nope! It's so easy! Really! I tried playing with a party once and got my butt kicked. But this mage is unstoppable, and is great great fun to play. Blindness + darts takes out 90% of the monsters in the game, with a bit of charming in the mix for the crowds. Monsters have horrible saves in this game. I don't even have uber stats:
STR 10
DEX 10 (18 with the bracers)
CON 16
WIS 10
INT 18
CHA 10 (11 with the tome)
I still haven't done any of the TotsC areas though; those should be hard as they are heavily trapped I heard (but with magic I should be able to bypass them).
However, I did use the ring of wizardry. I think it would be next to impossible to solo a mage without such a ring. It certainly would not be much fun as you would be doing more reloading than actual playing.
I just got to Baldur's Gate and can't wait to see what's in store for me there.

Darts are pretty good, to bad you can't use the braces of archery (or what are they called)
but the 18dex is a must for the low AC.
I suggest getting the cloack of balduran ASAP cause of the +1AC (i presume you wear a ring of protection)
What kind of mage are you? or are you a multiclass?
And what's youre current equipment if you dont mind me asking?

I'm a pure mage.
Armor: Mage Robe of Electrical Resistance (I could use the Robe
of the Good Archmagi, but I think it looks so ugly

. So I use this robe, looks purdy

. Gotta have style!)
Cloak: Cloak of Protection +1
Gauntlet: Gauntlets of Dexterity
Ring1: Ring of Wizardy
Ring2: Ring of Fire Resistance
Amulet: Greenstone Amulet
Belt: Golden Girdle
Boots: Boots of Grounding (I could use the Boots of Speed, but I don't mind walking slowly, and 50% electrical resistance is nice. They're in my inventory in case I really need them later on).
Weap1: Quarterstaff +3
Weap2: Dart
Quick1: Wand of Monster Summoning (haven't used it yet, saving it for when it's really needed. I don't plan on recharging wands as I think it's kinda cheesy)
Quick2: Wand of Paralyzation (used it a few times).
Quick3: Wand of Frost (used it a few times).
Then I have a few potions that I'm saving for the later stages, namely a couple potions of magic blocking, potions of power, scrolls of protection from magic, a few darts of stunning, and the cloak of displacement.

ir realy suprises me that you dont use the boots of speed, and the robe of archmagi.
The pure mage could be a wise decission, if you dont want to miss any spells,
personally i would go for the illusionis, then you miss only a few spells, and get 1extra per level.
I think the robe of archmagi dousnt look so bad, but if you realy want to, it should be possible to edit the looks of the robe.
And why no boots of speed? how do you outrun a strong melee fighter?
And again, good luck!!

I don't, I dire charm him and let him do all the killing

. Like that really powerful fighter in the bandit's camp. I charmed him and he singlehandedly wiped out most of the camp. And once they're charmed they're as good as dead because then I'll just cast blindness on them until they fail their save.

I think the Archmagi robes look the coolest of all mage robes

Depends on your Character's race. On gnomes (I always make my wizards gnome/illusionists) they look terrible because they're too big for them. On elves however, they look great.
