Are you using an antivirus program? If so disable it while you play.
Other than that you might have too many programs running in the background. Since I read your other post, I think you need to reinstall the game.

@kheemeng:
What are the specs on your machine? You might be asking it to do more than it is capable. First, you should not only do as our friend Jaff suggests and see what else is running in the background, but you also may need to dial back your video and sound settings. You might also want to make sure you have the latest version of DirectX.

What do you have running in your system tray? A lot of people have a bunch of crap they don't need running that chews up memory and processor power. These include things like Gator, the RealTray icon, the AOL Tray icon, MS Office quickbar and a bunch of other things. Individually, they don't use a tremendous amount of resources, but if you have four or five things running, it will slow your machine down considerably.

If you consider yourself a computer geek, you might want to go into the msconfig program and disable some of the startup programs. If have to ask what the msconfig program does, you probably shouldn't mess with it. Right click on each icon in the system tray, and if you don't need that program to run, each should have a "disable" feature. Disable the program and if possible, try and get it not to load automatically when your computer starts.

If you have an "always on" broadband connection, it is generally not a good idea or disable your antivirus software or your firewall.

You might also have some video card issues. What kind do you have? If it's not at least an 8 MB card, you're going to have problems. If you can afford it, you might consider upgrading to an ATI Radeon or GeForce4 Ti series card.

The Cheats probably did screw it up. Because of your Cleric problem too. You might have to get rid of your cheats. My friend is playing also and he has got some sweet weapons allready. I've seen what he has and it is impressive. I didn't find what he did, course I don't kill EVERYONE like him. But I really think the cheat program messed it up. I agree with HighLordDave also. But I guess I'm a computer geek. :D

If our friend kheemeng is using the cheat console built into the game, he shouldn't have any problems (that's why it's there). However, if he's using a character editor, there are lots of opportunities to mess things up.

If you're going to use the cheats, you should activate the cheat console through the IWD Configuration program, not through the icewind.ini file. Many people were having problems putting the Cheats=1 line in the Game Options which is why they put the cheat activation in the configuration program.

Yes, there is a cheat console, and judging by what's posted in the BI IWD2 forum, you're going to actually need it to advance the game in some areas, at least until an official patch comes out to fix the problems.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.
