Well i have been playing BG1, BG2, ToB, ID and a lot of other RPGs thru my life but now have i accountered a problem. My rogue cant find traps. Or i cant find the button i shall press so she starts to look. I dont know the new rules that good, but i thought it would be easy to find since detecting traps is one of the most important task a rogue has. But the only buttons i have is Thieving, Search (not traps), Stealth and then special abilities.... The search thing does not include search for traps cause i came to a area where i knew it was traps and did let my rogue stand there active searching with that button for 2 hours without find anything when i made some errands in the city. But she hadnt found anything when i came back.
So pls can someone tell me what i do wrong. It sucks when i cant use my rogue as i shall be able to.
Maybe the lamest question ever

Well maybe it is so.. I have 5 i think at it.. Since i dont know how the rules really are do i not know how good that is. But i think its strange that she didnt find any the 2 hours i was gone. But well.. Thx anyway. I restarted the game, cause i had only reached the Orc fort so i thought i can do it again. So now shall i see if i can make a better thief
Basically how the skills work is you have your skill bonus, in your instance 5, this is the total of your ranks in the skill + any requisite bonuses, for instance your intelligence bonus is added to search checks. Then the game rolls a D20 for you while you are searching and adds your bonus, this your max would be 25. The game then compares this number to the DC or Difficulty class of the trap, in other words the number that you must beat to find the trap, if the trap had a DC of 26 or higher to find you had no chance of finding it, that is why search is a very important skill for rogues. And your rogue probably wasnt search for 2 hours anyway, I believe that if they dont find something in a set amount of time they quit searching, so it might be that the trap was there and the DC was too high for you to find or simply that your rogue quit searching before he/she had rolled high enough on a search check to find it.
