Need help with goblin fortress

I cleared all of the caves and got to the inner part of the fortress but I can't get in the door. I think one of the guys had the key and then I rested and the key disapeared. Does anyone know a way around this?

Talk to the goblin called Pondmuk I think is his name, he is hungry and tells you that he wants to eat some spiders. Go north of that and kill the spiders in one of the rooms, pick up their boddies and give them to Pondmuk. He tells you the password to get by the guard at the door that is directly ahead of where you first entered the area.
