Reform party. Good or bad?

I play this game in such a way as to complete building my team as quickly as possible. I rarely reconfigure the team, since I have a really hard time choosing which members to drop. But now I see that getting a high character level is practically impossible when sharing XP's with four NPC's.
Now I've entered the end game, and I'm still only a level 13 Mage. I've killed two greater glabrezu (the one in the Curst ruins and one in UnderSigil), but my XP's still come very slowly. I've jacked up my Wisdom to 13, but the XP bonus seems to do me only minimal good.
Am I using flawed strategy in building my team too quickly? Do other players reform their group frequently to take advantage of XP's?

I think you get your xp quite normal(on my scale, that is!

). with my last character I got to lvl 20, just before the ending boss, okay, I did throw out all of my party members in Curst.

That's your problem. 13 Wis is extremely low for Torment, even to
start the game. You will miss all the coolest dialog options.
I start with 18 Wis and put it up to 25 ASAP, no matter my class.
At 13 Wis you only get a 2% XP bonus. At 25 Wis you get a 35% XP bonus.

I'm sorry, Platter. I made a typo and confused the WIS points with my charcter's level. I have taken care to boost my wisdom to between 21 to 25 (depending on which tatoos I use at any given time).
Maybe I should have started out as a mage to get as high a level as possible at this stage of the game. I played as a fighter until the point after which I spoke with Keldor.

^ Level 45, actually (35 before using the Bronze Sphere).
Note: once you get to level 20 the EXP gap between levels stops getting larger.

I've played through a few times and won with a fighter of only 17th level. As for the party, since you must share exp. I don't generally let anyone join my party until I hit the Lower Ward. And even then, you could probably wait a bit longer.

^ What the party members add to the story is much more important than the experience you must share with them, IMO.
At least play with them from start to finish a few times if you haven't already.
(I was playing solo in my lvl 45 game but I had already played several times with all the potential party members.)

I must agree with that. It's MUCH more important to hear and see ALL Dialogue, than to gain ex and great weapons. At least that's my opinion.

without a doubt. i am still not exactly in awe of the combat system in the game, but the dialogue, plots, intruige and history is simply stunning. the more characters the merrier IMO.

Been a while since I played Torment last, but I don't recall xp ever being hard to come by. Between the modron maze and being able to cloudkill undersigil again and again, your ability to gain levels is really only based on how much patience you have.

I do so like this game. There's always something new to learn, which makes the player want to come back to it repeatedly to address certain situations with a new set of variables.
Also, I like to play a game in which one doesn't have to slaughter everything to come to a favorable conclusion. The first time I played I ended up killing almost everything in sight. I did this mostly to survive, since the dialogue strings I chose usually pissed people off. But this time I was able to walk out of the Mortuary without a single battle.
Last time I ended at a level 26 mage, and I didn't have to kill the Transcendent One. This time I've converted to a mage class much earlier in the game, and I intend to reform my party more often to take advantage of xp's. I understand the advantage to be had in conversing with group members, so I intend to enlist them into the group when I can. But I'll be reforming the group more often than before to strengthen individual members, as well as TNO.
I had been reluctant to use small groups against powerful figures, but I was astounded to find that a small group consisting only of TNO, Annah, and Nordom could take out a Greater Glabrezu in Undersigil with minimal damage. I'll see how it goes.
