...comparing BG to BG2. They were made years apart, and should be treated thus. Hearing over and over, "BG2 graphics were better" is getting very annoying. Of course there were new things implemented and better graphics/resolutions. Its a part of a company exploring an engine adn making it better and better. Now then, we are in the BG forum for BG, please stop with BG2 vs BG or watever threads/posts.

Well BGII is better as far as technology goes and that's fact, but when was the last time people were *****ing about BG being inferior to BGII? I actually like BG better, but I definately don't dislike BGII. They're both great games.

Sorry for forgetting the "Worst things about BG" post. Whomever started that ain't too bright, and obviously isn't appreciating the game for what it is. Sure everyone has a few things they dislike/hate about the game but the rest of it usually more than makes up for what some think are bad points.

What's wrong with a little comparison? That BG2 is vastly superior in technical qualities doesn't automatically mean it's a better game. I think it is, but I find it interesting to hear why some people liked BG1 better.

I liked the character graphics, spell system, and class modifications in BG2 better, not to mention scroll cases, gem bags, etc. which helped with inventory management. That being said, I liked the story and open feel in BG1 a whole lot more.

Sometimes it's nice to start a character from lvl 1 and watch him grow through all games!

That's why I like BG better than BG2. And I hate Jon Jon's dungeon.

Considering their both part of the same story, play the first then the second, and get the full emersion experience!

I am sorry, if you thought I was compairing bg to bg2. I am not. I was merely interested in your opinions, and I hoped that some mod maker would pass by the tread, so that they would get some ideas for a new mods.

Not necessarily. I posted in that forum because there are some things that I think were bad decisions on the part of the programmer. That doesn't make the game bad, in fact I rather prefer it to BG2 on the whole. But talking about what you didn't like is a way to encourage improvement (assuming anyone in a decision-making capacity was listening.)

I don't think there are many modders left working on BG mods. BG2 has many in the making constantly, but there are very few for BG. So who are you trying to influence with this thread?

You never know if some bored mod maker comes by. :D

From what I understand most modmakers are presented with more concepts and ideas than they could make in a lifetime, so I highly doubt that any are bored.

Even if they don't mod BG, knowing what was inconvenient about it may keep people from making the same mistakes in other games and/or mods.

But ultimately, I don't think discussion needs to be practical. We are here primarily to share our opinions with other like-minded people (or argue with those who aren't so like-minded). Community is an end in itself, sometimes.
