Does it get any harder (I hope...)?

I'd like to start off by saying that Morrowind is an amazing, beautiful, and engrossing RPG. That said, why did they have to go and make it so easy? Lord knows I get tripped up on certain quests, but combat has been a joke since I hit 15th level...the player character is simply too powerful. At ~11th level, I cranked the difficulty bar to 100, and that helped. I currently have a balanced character at ~lvl 22 who uses a bound longbow most of the time. There are very few adversaries that can challenge me, and I'm certainly not the sharpest tack in the box. If I did find someone who could go toe-to-toe with me , I'd simply hit 'em with the Vampiric Ring, Black Hands Dagger (which is brutal beyond belief), a paralytic arrow, or the 16-shot 96 damage ranged shock amulet I had made. My alchemy is at 100, and I could draw upon awesome potions, but who needs them?
Morrowind vets: does the main quest get more challenging? If not, I'm going with a stripped-down char from here on out (no Daedric at all, no souped-up mega weps, no armor, silver arrows and below, etc.).
