Nymm advised me to buy some rope. I figured 1 should do but bought 1 for each party member just to be safe.

At 10 lbs. and 1 inventory slot apiece, however, is 1 actually enough?

You got it, one is plenty so don't bother overloading yourself unnessesarily.
