Multiclass?

In the 2nd ed. rules multiclassing was very effective, some of those characters were the most powerful (F/M, C/ranger, F/C, F/T, T/M etc.) expecially at high lev..
With the new rules it seems to me by your posts (I still havent got the game) that real multiclassing is not worthing anymore. Everybody seems to prefer a kind of flexible dual-classing (even with 3 classes), like a coupple of class of something and then continue with one straight class.
It is still usefull to have real multiclassing (like 5/5 F/T or F/M, or 4/3/3 F/M/T etc.) and wich combo's are still effective?

There isn't any multiclassing/dual classing dichotomy any longer. The option doesn't exist. When you start out, you choose one class per character, and every level they make from then on allows full choice of profession.
Do you have the game, @Lompo? No offense, but I'd be surprised at your reaction if you did.

Actually he doesn´t have the game yet. As he writes (in brackets).
I take your role, fable, and tell everybody to always read posts carefully!

I don't have the game yet (I don't think if is on sale in Italy yet), but I understand how multiclassing is working.
My question is that by the post I read everybody is talking of doing characters singleclass with a small number of level in one or more other classes (ie. Fighter4/cleric xx, Ranger1/thiefxx that I consider flexible dualclasses), but nobody is talking of building characters with two or more classes of same level (ie. fighter8/thief8, thief8/mage8 etc. true multiclasses), is there a reason for that?
Maybe the new rules nerfed the potential of old fashion multiclass?

Of course you can "real" multiclass as you say. It´s worth for a couple of combinations, but there are classes that are just great to improve your char by taking only one level.
eg: Sorcerer with a level of Paladin -> Chr Bonus to saving throws
Rogue with a level of Ranger -> free TwoWeapon Fighting while in light armour
Druid with a level of Barbarian -> free Rage ability, more HP, faster Movement
...

Oh, I see what you mean.

I know that I'm sticking pretty much to solo classes+with one or two levels of a second class. Most classes gain from this concentration: fighters continue to bring in more feats; wizards, sorcs and clerics get more spells. Thieves really don't stand to gain much after level 21 or so, IMO, however, so I'm planning to slip in a few levels of fighter, there.

I got my card out of a Cracker Jacks box and it entitles me to one screw up per month at GameBanshee plus a free car wash with a full tank of gas at E-Z-Go.

I took fable's original question to mean: "Are they really selling the game in Italy yet?" To which the answer was, "No." or in Itlain, "No."
I will advise that there are certain draw backs to multi-classing as proscribed here most of the time. One has to have a character who's favored class is one of the ones you choose. So if you're human or half elf you're cool. Otherwise you need to be careful about which classes you choose.
If you're okay with a teifling rogue, cliched as that is, then you're fine. If you want a teifling fighter/sorcerer, he or she will need to progress in even step for each class.
As an example, my Barbarian monk chose the "the old order" as his domain. He is allowed to multiclass to rogue. (Can't pick locks to save his life though.) Since the prefered class for half orc is, not surprisingly, Barbarian (it's unfair really)he was getting a 20% xp penalty for two levels becuase I advanced him up to third level in monk before I added rogue. things are better now, but he does need to progress evenly.

Did you not write: "Do you have the game, @Lompo? No offense, but I'd be surprised at your reaction if you did."
I beleive that was the question that drew comment.
That'll be three turns in jail, bub.
