Dungeon-Be-Gone Mod Released!

The Dungeon-Be-Gone mod has been released.
http://www.forgottenwars.net/dbg
It's an Irenicus Dungeon (aka Chez/Chateau Irenicus) skipper. No, it's not RIDE.
For those times when your new game falters under the weighty trail of playing... *that* dungeon - again.
What is Dungeon-Be-Gone?:
- A shortcut through Irenicus' Dungeon. Merely talk to the guide that appears shortly after your character is released, and you'll have several options.
- You also get a hopefully entertaining NPC guide to take you through, and he even has voicing. (Why? Because we can.)
Take Note:
- This MOD is rather silly, and also skips all the story elements and such just to get you to the end faster. This is aimed for those who have played the game so many times that Irenicus' dungeon has become more painful than a root canal, and less interesting than a Valygar coffee mug. If silliness and/or 'cheating' offends you, then looks like you'll just be wresting long bows from goblins for a while.

If it just skips the dungeon this could be a good idea for people who play several times. I wonder what happens with certain items in the dungeon (acorns especially)?

Is this Mod compatible with the Improved Iliych Mod?

You get most of the items, and you can opt to accept the acorns as well.
As for Improved Ilyich, the idea of D-B-G is to SKIP all of the start dungeon. Improved Ilyich is part of the start dungeon.
Jasper St. Baird (your dungeon skipmeister) isn't too picky, you can tell him to wait, go off and fight Improved Ilyich, and then come back. If you really want.
But it's intended to SPARE you from that. If you're a big Imp. Ilyich fan, maybe it isn't for you.

I will do the improved Illyich and then leave.

Thanks for the great mod!
I started a new game as soon as i had it installed.
Unfortunately had a problem:
diologue text error while installing componants.
Started game and 'J' was there and a blank text box appeared when i talked to him.
so pressed mouse lots and 'bamn', where all standing meters from the exit sweet
I even managed to get all the items by randomly clicking in the blank box.
Nevermind, might try reinstall.
Thanks guys

That means your dialog.tlk file was write-protected.
Reasons:
1. It's flagged read-only on your HD.
2. You had BG2 open when you installed the mod.
3. You had a modding tool like Infinity Explorer, Near Infinity, or ShadowKeeper open when you installed.
Uninstall the mod, make sure 1, 2, 3 are not true, and reinstall.

Thanks for the MOD. I'll give it a try just so I can enjoy the silly dialogue.
I'm probably one of the only people in the world who thinks that Irenicus's dungeon is worth exploring even after restarting the game a dozen times. It's not because I enjoy fighting goblins and duergar dwarves. It's just because it's not a bad way to start the game, from both a practical standpoint as well as a role-playing standpoint. If all of your money and equipment has been taken away from you, how are you supposed to replace it? Why should it be easy to escape from your captor? Imoen's dialogue allows me to feel at least some attachment to her before she's snatched away. If I let myself get into it, the dungeon actually creates a mood that's almost as effective as it was the first time I played (dark and creepy, although it's never scary anymore). I know this sounds funny, but when the cut-scene is over and you're standing in Waukeen's Promenade and everything's quiet and you're wondering what to do next, it creates a sensation that wouldn't be possible if you hadn't been through all that crap.

And some of the little side-quests are worth doing. The only problem with the first level of the dungeon is that it requires so much walking back and forth, which I consider to be a flaw in the game, since you're supposed to be in a hurry to leave. I can solve that problem by using the Ctrl-J cheat key, and that's what I usually do. Okay, I'll admit that Imoen's dialogue gets old, and so do Aataqah, Rielev, Frennedan, etc. But I'd hardly call it "more painful than a root canal".

And there's not that much on the second level that you can't just run past and skip if you want to avoid it. You just need to kill a few bandits and a few mephits that are in your way if you don't mind skipping the treasure. It's really not much different from the rest of the game, so what's the point in crying about it?

If I wanted to skip the first level, all I'd have to do is cheat in a Portal Key and use the portal next to Jaheira's cage. But then I wouldn't be able to do the Nymphs' quest or get the Sword of Chaos +2 or the other treasure that's on that level. So I usually end up going through it just the same.
If Chapter One is so bad that you want to skip it, you might also consider skipping Chapters Two through Six. There's an easy way to do it. All you have to do when Imoen lets you out of your cage is enter the following CLUAConsole commands:
SetGlobal("ElvenCityTree","GLOBAL",0)
CreateItem("c6lantho")
CreateCreature("c6elhan2")
Then talk to Elhan, and he'll take you straight to Suldanessellar.
But once again, thanks for the MOD. I'll restart the game just to see it for myself.

Me second, @VonDondu!
It's long since I started a new game the last time, but
actually that is even an almost challenging part, the way I do it:
free Immie, refuse Yoshimo, clear the place without resting,
only
then free Jaheira and Minsc, and finally get enraged
when Immie is taken away!
I don't find that part more boring than the rest,
everything is well known, by now...
Not that the game is boring!
Only some situations and dialogs now and then...
Still the game is worth it, I tried Warcraft III, but I wasn't so much
involved.. (Well, I loved to FAIL an optional undead quest to spare
the life of a cute elven girl!!!
Damn they let me do so many nasty things!!!)
I am somehow on a "gaming-hold" now...
Really waiting for Return to Windspear and Quitchy's Imoen Mod!!!

I'm with VonDondu and Littiz: The Irenicus dungeon is not bad and most of it can be easily skipped. The only quest you must do is getting the doors open on the first level (whether by getting the control module or picking the golem's "pocket"). There are a few dialogues that can't be avoided (Aataqah, the dryads, Yoshimo and the final Shadow Thief), but they are quick. All other monsters/NPCs can be run away from or avoided altogether.
Still, the MOD sounds like fun. I will probably download it as soon as I finish soloing my bard.

I have to say I'm definitely with VonDondu, Littiz and JackOfClubs.
I played the start of the game
much many times than anything else (I like to try new characters), but guess what? Just now I want to do it again!
Now that there's Improved Illych, it's like looking for new strategies in playing chess.
@jcompton & team: I'm sure that this mod will make
many people happy, anyway! Guess you just saved the world another time
(anyway... I could very happily use a skip-spellhold or whatever-spellhold mod...)
