Finally, after almost a year of inactivity, the Baldur's Gate II Spells Reference has been updated! Image

Additions include Throne of Bhaal spells, high level abilities, evil endless spells strategies and loads of little bits and pieces of info and cheese. Image

Lots of kudos to Littiz and Alson. If it wasn't for their help this wouldn't have happened. Image

Xyx is too modest to do enough of a promotion...
I'll do!
I strongly suggest to get a fully read of the site.

Even for the expert player, lots of new things are present,
while the rest is still a handy compendium of things often forgotten!
(Alson was a living database of those...)
The old contents have been as well revised and updated with new cheese..
His Highness Xyx accepted even SOME  changes in his old judgements! :p

Go and learn the real Simulacrum formula (that Xyx finally figured out),
now my definitive argument in the duals vs multis debate...
(Duals get KILLER simmies..)

For the cheesy player, read the Endless Spells section and see how mages
(ALL mages, with the exception of some specialist ones) become the supreme rulers of the game, as it should have always been...
And know that a version WITHOUT engine abuses is also possible! :D

Actually... they're all pretty cheese-less. There's no evidence they weren't meant to work that way.

Remember, kiddies: Just that it's horribly overpowered doesn't make it cheese. Image

That's what being a god's child is all about - horribly overpowered ... ;)

the staff of thunder and lightning can cast call lightning indoors....

now after reading your discovery about imp and chaos shield, i am thinking hey, maybe my wildmage cleric kensai is actually a really really good bun bun after all.....

so a triple chaos shield should give much better bonuses than a single improved chaos shield, and thus you can expend first in battle, a chain contingency to load up a triple improved chaos shield, then use nrds to cast chain contingency to unload offensive load of cleric spells, many many flamstrikes, then use remaining nrds to unload dragons....heck, this hack should be even better than a sorc kensai in many ways, namely cleric spells....

hmmmm.....i really like the new ref, and thanks for the cheese.. :D ;)

Well, the Chain Cheese at least is a clear abuse!!
But that is the only one easily avoided.. :)
Go Mages!!!! :D

What Chain cheese? There isn't any! Unless you count casting it while the game is paused as cheese... But what real difference does it make if you unpause? It still casts instantly.

He heee.. I read it thoroughly before and you can bet I'll do it again now! :)
Many many thanks for all the work to you all!

@Xyx: you should know it well, Chain is supposed to have 9 casting time, not to act immediatly and as if you had Improved Alacrity active...

But again, you can cast that beforehand, it's not too much of a problem...

@Serje: eh, I have to re-read it myself ;)
Thanx to Xyx mostly, and even more for RtW... we're waiting...

in project image,

"It is also vulnerable to Dispel Magic. Have it cast Spell Immunity - Abjuration to protect itself from that"

i dont think spell immunity abby works, in fact i am sure i have tested spell immunity abby with project image and it still dispelled...self induced dispell magic..tho...

simmy:

"Simulacrum
Another great clone spell. Not as powerful a spellcaster as Project Image, but you can act alongside your Simulacrum and it's not killed by True Sight or Dispel Magic"

isnt simmy vulnerable to true sight??? you have to cast spell immunity div for protection, right???

also both are vulnerable to deathspell, and deathward will NOT protect your clones....

here is a naughty and wee exploit (very very wee...) in the underdark, in the altar of demogorgon, you can use your mislead clone as sacrifice...

Both your assumptions are wrong User ;)
  • Spell Immunity *doesn't* shield against YOUR OWN spells.
That's why your images are dispelled even with spell immunity.
That's why also, people tried to set Skull Traps and to protect
themselves against them with SI: Necromancy, failing.
    SI blocks only "external" spells.
Mentioned in Xyx's guide, SI comment ;) Have faith in Xyx!
  • Simmies are totally immune to any form of dispelling.
    No need for SI.
    This was throughly tested.
    You can only kill them.
They are also immune to death spell, unless, maybe, they are very
low in level (8?) so they are insta-killed as anyone else would be.

well, crap....

okey dokey...i always had to test stuff with self casting spells, since i dont know enough scripting to setup a lich to test stuff for me....

sorry,......

well, heck i trust you guys to set up special scripts and such for enemys to use, to test out stuff...

thanks....

No need, just cast Skull Trap or Dispel with another party member
and you'll see that SI works normally :)

I tried to get my clones (Mislead, Image and Sim) get killed with Death Spell by beholder. No go. Did you actually verify this yourself?

Rather an expensive sacrifice, then, compared to a level 3 summon.

xyx, the improved balderdash dragons auto deathspell any summons...i know i had sent images to improved balderdash dragons and got them deathspelled.....

so i am pretty sure images, clones and mislead clones are counted as summons by game engine....

i have tried deathwarding summons to use on improved dragons, and gotten them deathspelled, so i am pretty sure deathwarding clones would not work....

but its interesting spell immunity abby will protect the image...

hold on, there,,,,,littiz, have you had a low level mage project image and a higher level mage dispell the image??? or was the image of the highest level mage available in your party????

that would confirm the dispell.....

also, xyx, my sorc spell tables never ever contain monster summon level 1,2,3....

its a pretty crappy spell, as we all know.... :D
