Inspired by EvilEdwin i decided to post a poll about sexes.

So... What sex do you prefer when playing Bg2?

Actually I meant what sex the people on here are, but I'm game!

well, you see i know enough about the globals to get any romance i want....

easy to do, just start a game in bg with a female avatar, then save and then start another game in bg with male avatar, and save...so if you want to play female and romance aerie, you would copy and paste the correct globals....

aeriematch=1
checkaeriematch=1

for example.....

now, tashia is a different story...

pick her up, and if you have not reached lovetalk 10, check her affects tab in sk....

tashiamatch=1

will allow you to have a fling with her, even if you are female....

i dont know about kelsey, and male characters, since thats

eeeeeeewwwww!!!!!

cause i am a guy.....   ;)

Great idea Bloodmist, this could be really fun! :D

Now, I'm not sure. Let's check pros and cons.

Playing male
Pros:
1) You don't get confused (if you're a male like me, I mean)
2) More romances, plus
3) Chance to cheat you loved one with Phaere, if you're so bad.

Cons:
1) You can meet Sola and get confused anyway
2) If you want one of the girls in your group but you don't want to romance her, you may be forced to treat her bad at least to some extent, and this usually makes me sorry.

Playing female
Pros:
1) You don't get confused (if you're a female)
2) Kelsey romance (I created my first female character just for this!) ;) :D
3) The female avatars are ALL nicer than the male ones, imho!
4) You can get along better with almost all other females in the game, including Phaere
5) All the drow show more respect for you

Cons:
1) You could eventually meet Chloe and get confused anyway :p
2) Anomen romance
3) Actually, the troubles with Phaere are fun

Ok, looks like for me "female" wins for a narrow measure...
Going to vote.

aqua chan hates me now....

anyway, even if you play female, just clua in the belt of gender, and wear it just before talking to her after killing or not killing sola,,,,

warning, the belt causes some problems, you should save before wearing and restore game after seeing and enjoying the dialog....

tashia has some fun things to say, and immie romance is suppose to, but i have never seen it....

tashia is a riot.....

I guess she already know all about it...
Anyway, I'm not subscribing to the "Anomen abuse club" (hey, I tried to romance him at least!)
But he was saying offensive things!
He didn't like my pc (a druid) to be neutral  :(
(Go romance someone else then, won't you?)

you've listed pro's for romances in one place and romances as cons in another place, also you say for pros in both gender's that you don't get confused and then in con's you list a time (that I've never heard of so I assume is a patch or add on) that you get confused anyway.

well anyway I voted for Female since those characters look better, has anyone ever noticed that armor worn by your characters in the inventory look that armor on females has much more detail then armor on males? look at plate armor, there's more stuff like smaller circles on females armor then there is on males armor.

To have many nice romances available is a pro, to have only Anomen romance available is a con. As simple as that! ;)

Your assumption is perfectly correct. I'm referring to Soulafein mod and Chloe mod. Chloe (female npc) is rumored to romance female pcs, and modded Solaufein wants to romance... well, anything that moves  ;) :p

Yep, that's what I was talking about at pro 3)(female)!

I admit... I've played as male only once, and, ehm, discontinued..
Yes, you can have the romances, but I don't like those elven chicks
anyway

See, a female PC is a pleasure for the eye, and for the ears..
Gotta love that italian voice set!!! Best female voice ever!!!

Then, I have a real thing for slender, short haired girls...
Exactly like the game avatars  even more like female
kensais, without armor nor helmet
Cannot resist
:p

I put my vote for females as I hate getting bossed around by the drow.

Isn't it weird that if you only check what people wrote the females would have won big time but now the males are in the lead?!?!

i usually go equally with either, but females get my vote: better portraits, better voice packs, no bloody romance problems and that woman who runs the inn in waukeens promenade is nice to you. :)

besides, wynne in forgotten wars has posted in the forum the single best voice set i have ever heard, and its female, and bun bun 8, 9 should be out soon, has natalie portman at age 17-19....yummmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyy!!!!!!

wynne's voice set is "innocent", and its the only voice set i have heard better than fem voice set 4, the default in the game... and natalie's portrait is the best i have ever seen of lady midnite's gallery, before the site disappeared...

bun bun 9, out later this week, is a major edit of 8, no more constant effect spell turning, so its ok for xyx's endless spells cheese....

i follow the cheese, the cheese stands alone...

I saw it, I saw it...

But please, let's not turn this into *another* Anomen thread that I have to check every ten minuts to defend the guy: there are three already and I'm having the time of my life keeping up.

I've never played a male. After dealing with young men who are used to dealing out a load of b.s. on thier teachers every weekday, I'm perfectly fine with saying that I don't want to bring another one into my life that isn't necessary. Besides, woman seem to get treated better in the realms, anyways.

Of course they do. It's known as chivalry. ;)

I am male and tend to play males. However, one of my favorite campaigns was playing a female half-orc Swashbuckler named Tita (you have to be from Hawaii to understand the joke). I plan to play a female character just to see the Anomen romance, but it keeps getting put off for other things...

Haha... it's not a rumor. As Chloe's creater, I can assure you she is only interested in females romantically. :D

And well I have to admit that Chloe is what turned my vote from male to female, for other than aesthetic reasons (though IMHO Littiz is right, female kensai avatars look pretty sharp), as I typically play males, though the call was tough for me between female/Chloe and male/Sola, I mean don't be too hasty, in addition to Sola being a (melancholy) rock star, if I were a bhallspawn, I would not feel right producing offspring. The PC has enough issues, why pass it on? And its a long lonely road to destiny... Though I suppose they could have magicked up some birth control... ;)

And about the armor, ever notice how not only is the armor more detailed as masterdarkninja noticed, it is more revealing, especially the red dragon scale. Sharp looking ladies, full coverage men...

My decision before Chloe would have been different because though playing with the romance values and/or having a multi sex/race romance file is cool, it falls a bit short for some of the gender-specific talk, I mean having Viccy refer to a female romance interest as a male is kinda annoying. Though thats a cheap 2 cents (as if the rest of it isn't) without having tried Tashia...

I've played a male once (twice if you count the game that got wiped out during a system crash) and a female twice. Actually, all three games are still active (mood swings). I voted for the males.

I like the way you can 'dispense' with the mush talk by being a brute, although the Jaheira romance challenge is hard to resist.

By the same token, the romance challenges for the ladies include somewhat demeaning dialogues with puffed up paladin wannabes when business is the call of the day. The choices seem limited even though I added the Kelsey mod.

What can I say? I'm a woman who can't make up her mind!!
