Is there a really belt that gives you 21 str in soa? Without tob installed? I was just looking at different soloing strategies at gamebanshee.com/baldursgateii and the guy who wrote about barbarian said there's a belt that gives you 21 str.

I dont believe that there is a belt in SoA which gives 21 strength.

ABout belm +2..........u can find it in Trademeat.
U know were the rakasha are right??
Well b4 that house there is a bridge....and allmost at the end of that bridge there is a path to the right which leads down.

Then enter the door (just walk north/east a bit 2 find that door).....and within that room ull find Belm +2 :)

Yeah, that's the idea. Her and everybody else that wishes to tag along.

And there is a belt that grants 21 strength in SoA.

It's in the Underdark on one of the demonnights in the kuo-tuan realm (the fish-men). You have to bring the statue there an animal sacrifice to gate in the demonknights. If you're soloing a character without the ability to summon an animal, lure a kuo-tuan to the altar.

I decided to solo with an archer, my first time I played with him in a 6 character party, but I just love archers, not goin to go on with my fighter/thief heh :) going for long bows(only got soa no tob, but still like long bows better), any suggestions? Wait, do I tell imoen to get lost right in the beginning of the game?

It's up to you really. If I solo, I dump her right away (she has to join the party after she frees you from the cell)

When I get to the asylum to "get her back" I usually let her join the party briefly only to let her battle the clay golem that guards the bag of holding as I never use blunt weapons. (Fireshield red damages the golem - of course she gets killed, but she usually makes the golem kill itself during the battle or at least make it near death)

so if i dump her right away, I'll still be able to free her later right?

Yes. The sequence with Irenicus outside the dungeon will take place whether you took her along or you told her to beat it.

she'll appear in the cutscene with Irenicus's battle against shadow thieves and cowled wizards.

so after I let her join how do I get rid of her right away? Hit her?

Do you want me to play the game for you? Just remove her from the party as you would any other unwanted partymember - or hit her, yes.

It's okay - just play as you would with a party - but instead of 6 characters you only have 1 - so remember to be versatile.
Give it a shot, and if you get stuck somewhere just ask here.

In general, soloing is for people who have played BG2 often, even on the hardest level, and want a much greater challenge. If you haven't reached that stage of ennui, just consider reducing the size of your party and upping the difficulty level to the max. :)

or just install sola and ascention....and crank to core....

besides, if you want to play sola and ascention, but are getting kicked...download bun bun 9, and 10, which i will be uploading fairly soon, as soon as i make some experiments on monks....

sola and ascention, will kick most party's butts, man they are hard, and almost cannot be completed without cheese or bun bun....ya gots to read a lot of strategy guides and be darned lucky as well as really carefully build party...

I agree with User about the difficulty of Sola, however, for the experienced player, BGII without it is very easy mainly because of cheese. Sola negates that and we are playing against smart enemies that resist cheese. But of course User, you would cheese everything possible. ;)

About soloing, I think at the beginning its very hard. But then your experience becomes 6 times as much as a normal party so youre very powerful in the middle. If you have ToB, you keep on being powerful at the end of SoA. In ToB things get tougher.

Especially as you stop leveling at the beginning of TOB. You wont gain a level between sendai and melisaan
